Yes, but when they showed the core specs they said nothing is final, they also said they completely changed Arcana and we have no clue what they’re going to release.

That is my thoughts exactly. The fact they didn’t pre-release the other specilizations probably means the higher ups made the decision pretty quick to release it.

We have no idea when they’re releasing it. SInce they’re still testing condition damage formulas I think it could be a few weeks…

Ele will be fine. Elemental attunement will be minor again. Beyond that I think they will be just fine. At least it won’t be like the 2013(?) Ele near extinction.

While true, I’m going to hope not for the developers sake (And I don’t even play Ele but my buddy does). Eles are all “we’re doomed because of EA/EA nerf” “Okay, moar nerfs!” Just doesn’t sound logical to me, but you really never know. xD I wasn’t overly impressed with their initial design for the tree so, frankly, I couldn’t imagine it getting too much worse.

Eles are all “we’re doomed because of EA/EA nerf” “Okay, moar nerfs!” Just doesn’t sound logical to me, but you really never know. xD I wasn’t overly impressed with their initial design for the tree so, frankly, I couldn’t imagine it getting too much worse.

I don’t think they would intentionally want to nerf ele, since they seem to understand Elemental Attunement is too crucial for the class. However, I think they do not realize the impacts of changes they’re making. The information they gave us could be both good and bad.
Case A:
Elemental Attunement is a minor trait in Arcana, it is still AoE, but durations are nerfed —> good
Case B:
Elemental Attunement is a minor trait in Arcana, it’s not aoe and durations are nerfed. You take a trait in a GM slot that makes it AoE —> bad. Nothing would basically change, only the fact you could take another master trait, but ele would still lose support.
Case C:
Elemental Attunement is a minor trait in Arcana, it is aoe and there is a new GM trait for eles. —> could be both good and bad depending on the traits.

I think all of these scenarios could happen and we’ll have to see, which one it is. However, I still think that EA is way too important for the class, so eles will still be forced into Arcana, which is the best that could happen. If they made EA a baseline (nerfed durations, not aoe), I think I would be happiest. It would open a wider diversity in builds and the support eles would still go into Arcana, so they wouldn’t be hurt. On the other hand, you would probably have issues since you would miss out on all the vigor, which is quite important for ele, seeing as it doesn’t really have high passive defense.

I’m going to assume they wouldn’t do 2. I feel like they’re trying to move away from the necessity of doubling up to make a certain thing fully functional. Of course a few exist still, I’d be heart broken if they took that route. That said, I see no reason that “minor” necessarily means it has to be “weaker”, especially when you see things like Fast Hands, arguably one of the most impactful traits in the game as a master minor. I’m holding out hope that it’s just general improvements because, like I said, I really wasn’t thrilled with the last showcase for Arcana. The master tier was really limiting and Elemental Contingency felt repetitive and lack luster, and the others were too specific. The adept tier was pretty similar, except the only thing I could imagine people taking would be the vigor trait unless they were an arcane ele. Of course, this is pretty strictly a view in a spvp scope, but it just felt narrow to me and lack of impactful choices in Master. I was pretty excited to hear they did some hefty work on ARcana. We’ll see.
