Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Speculation of a new Tornado?
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
We’ve given them a bunch of new ideas for Tornado and begged for a change to make the skill useful for ages. There hasn’t been a red post here seeking feedback on potential reworks. I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Seems like they may hit each transform when the given dass’s elite is introduced and explained.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
reduce cd to 120 seconds.
increase the radius.
stops projectiles (they cant hurt you or your allies you are in front of).
increase duration to 20s.
that would make it really good for large scale stuff.

It might not even end up as a transform if things turn out the same as they did for Guardian. For better or for worse.

It can’t be for worse… at least in PvP. Everytime I see another ele use that I just pop my armor of earth and kill the guy… thing doesn’t even tickle you with its damage, and even if you don’t have the stability, the CC still isn’t that good.
Lolz, I expect nothing.
No reference to elementalist elites.
If anything, they’ll probably remove glyph of elementals and FGS in order to improve usage of Tornado.

It seems like eles are getting the Necromancer treatment.
Yay cold shoulders and teary eyes all around!
Well, it’s kinda fun for denying a rez. I see dead people flying.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
remove transformation, make it an aoe smoke field that blinds and kicks people around on a 120s cd

I can already see them going "We felt that FGS and Glyph of Elementals were the most used elites. They seem quite core to the elite slot and, although not amazing like some elites out there, they need to become something else.
Thus we decided to scrap them and allow people to choose between Tornado and, when underwater, Whilpool. This should promote the much needed build diversity.
Now let’s see move ahead on how we buffed class X."

On a serious note, this could also be an interesting choice.
I think any remakes are being held until they do Elites for each class. Might help them pace feedback.

The Tome rework for the Guardian (=> Signet, Shouts) is giving the core profession an Elite category it already has and that has synergies with existing traits. I assume Tornado will be treated the same.
What could that mean:
Tornado can either be remade as a Cantrip or a Signet (Summon Glyph will remain as will FGS as a Conjure).
As a Cantrip, it would benefit from the various Traits for Cantrips, including the reduced cool down to 120, as a Signet it will need a passive effect to be in line with other Signets.
There is another option too: We will get a new Signet or Cantrip Elite for the core professions, should the Tempest (and Tornado seems to fit here) be focused on transforms (and get utility skills and traits associated with transforms).
Imagine this:
>> Utility skill: “Firestorm” => You transform into a fiery twister. While transformed you leave fire fields as you move and can not be set on fire yourself
>> Trait: “Wind of Boons” => Apply a random boom while being in a transformed state
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
as i mentioned above, it would be so much better to just remove the transform and make it an actual cantrip so that you wont become a “please focus me because im a joke compared to rampage and lich” target.
aoe smoke field that knocks and blinds people and deals a small amount of damage to people who stand in it for a duration of 6-8 seconds on a 120cd, this is actually worth an elite slot.
Make tornado function sort of like it does for invoker in dota! Point in specific direction, tornado is cast from body of hero and travels in direction casted, if it comes in contact with an enemy it lifts them in the air keeping them from performing any action until dropping back to the ground.

CC called float would suit to that, but they aren’t sure if they will introduce it also to normal fights (gravity well elite of chronomancer), otherwise it will only remain underwater as it is now.
Imo tornado should be the most destructive and fast to not give enemy chance for reaction.
Tornado + Lightning Rod on enemy ranged is quite fun, if you survive that is… Maybe if it was reflecting projectiles like dagger storm and added some health/armor when activated it would be more viable.
Even asura Power Suit adds stats – I have 4k armor with it – but still pretty useless in 99% scenarios. The elites are ok ideas in general, just lacking something that would make them useful in certain scenarios (for example stability on Power Suit).

What if tornado would have its own hp pool & stats, looks better? Yeah reflecting projectiles but 2x times faster reflected projectiles fly.

I think this would be a solution right now tornado isn’t a threat, it’s a free kill…

What about a PBaoe knockback and whirl finisher. Could be an instant cast to fit the theme of cantrips and no transform. This or a much stronger version of gust staff air 3(I think?).

Ideas:
1st: Pulsar – sends waves of 5 projectiles in all direction (mixed gust + dust devil, then reverse), enemies that attack you in meele are launched up to the canopy of jungle (float), traited for one wave more.
2nd: Dance of winds – you send 5 dust devils whose will cricling around you, backing to to you and again cricling around to make bigger circle. Dust devils periodicaly throws gust ( not at once ).
Whatever for the damage, give stability/protection for the duration of the skill, and reflects projectiles, and weakens foes, and whatnot, give it a hell of usability as a Tornado should have yeah! ANet fix this thing.
