Hey guys
I have an Ele, it was actually my first lvl 80. Idk I got a bit bored of it tried Guardian and since then I’ve pretty much mained Guardian (with a little pouse for Thief).

So since I don’t play ele for serious in like over a year, and since Staff was my favourite weapon and I know its viable now in PvP I wanted to know which are the most comon Ele Staff builds for tPvP and the ones more “friendly” to begin with.

I would recommend you make your own adjustments to them to fit your own playstyle, but they’re good starting points. Zerker staff is imo the harder to play of the 2 if you’re playing solo because it takes good positioning and some team support, especially if enemy team has mobile, burst dps specs to kill you before you can do any good. Played well and in certain situations, can totally turn the tide of a team fight.

Has a lot more survivability than the above one (cost: less damage, but still hits quite hard), can actually contest/sit points if needed (not ideal but you’ll last more than 5 seconds) and not die instantly. I take Ice Bow to use the 4 when you get a down – if they try to res, usually you can take out the the resser too, it’s pretty nice. With FGS nerf it probably won’t be worth taking anymore, but until tomorrow it’s good for Khylo/Forest to hit treb/beast, or on Foefire if you plan to go for the lord.

It’s a lot of fun to play since people usually expect zerker when they see a staff but you can burst pretty well, and it’s a total surprise. Can 1v1, contest/sit points, etc. I’d reccomend going to the original thread, I believe there’s a video that explain combos.

Celestial Staff is so strong it’s pushed out Bunker Guardian for some team comps as the team’s main support in sPvP.

Gotta love that with all the effort put into making things other than cantrips and 0/x/x/6/6 viable…. ER-tripcantrip-0/x/x/6/6 is still taken in top teams. With flavour-of-the-month broken runes and the ever-necessary Energy sigil.

It was the first build I ever used in TPVP and I have plenty of fond memories of it :P I’d hate to bring it up without crediting you, though finding that thread took a bit of digging.

I know this topic is really old, but it kinda fits the porpurse of my new question. With the lack of ime I haven’t actually played much Ele and stayed with my previous classes, but now my mode of messurement to choose my main is different. Since I still have some disere to get out of Guard and come back to Ele I need to know if the Ele builds I want are playable is all Gw2 modes, which are sPvP, PvE and WvW. I know with Guard I can play all those and be good. WvW I main roaming and I can do it with Medi Guard, it’s harder than other classes but doable, and I know Staff Ele is more than viable for PvE and sPvP, but is it for WvW Roaming? I also emjoy D/D, but for roaming am I forced to go with those?

So main question. Is Staff Ele viable for small group and solo play in WvW?

You “can do” everything with the same build, it’s just not a good idea. Even if you keep Staff, you have to change traits/gear/skills for each area of the game.
