On D/D or S/D, I’m often switching attunements during fights, but I notice when I’m using staff, it’s pretty much fire all day unless I’m fighting destroyers, and occasionally air in big close groups.

Is it my imagination that staff doesn’t lend well to attunement switching? Are there more efficient ways to use it?

Depends, In pve yeah pretty much its Fire all day…But each attunement has a lot of benefits in spvp and wvw…for example in spvp during team fights I generally use a speed burst from lighting then aoe stun the point, switch to fire and drop meteor + 2, and 3…Then switch to earth and Drop 4, then 2 and try to snare a squishy with 5…after that I go to water and drop the slow + both heals, then its back to fire to burst down whatsever left….Only thing is in Pve u just dont really need all that

Well it all depends on situation you’re in and build you’re running with, if it is an easy/short fight then staying in just fire attunement is fine. But if its more difficult/long fight then you definitely want to switch between attunements. For example I often use earth+fire or earth+water combinations attacks in dungeons. In PvP I use all attunements to constantly cc/heal/dps.

depends on ur build. if u dont have many point in arcana then staying in fire is basically providing the best dps u can get since swapping to another attunement drops ur dps and with high attunement swap time, the gap can be pretty noticable.

if ur just trying to aoe u would drop meteor shower in fire, then swap through at least earth and water for their aoe spells while waiting for meteor to finish cding.

for staff, fire provides the dmg, water healing, and earth and wind for cc and other situational uses. so if all ur doing is dps, then yea. fire all day long.

starting in earth to do bleeds, cripple and to get the blast finisher speeds things up in pve, though it´s not required.

I do swap attunements in PvE all the time. Reason being is that I prefer to pull in several mobs at once. It not only improves your awareness but once you learn how to work using this you do not have to spend more time taking one enemy at a time – especially in Orr zones.
