Many elementalists like myself got rid of our starting headpiece (Flame Eye for me) I tried transmuting it way back near the beginning of the game but it never worked and it became useless. Is there anyway to get back our starting piece or at least have some way for so many of us that didn’t told themselves: “wait I’m going to hold on to it for 5 months until it is fixed”, to buy it back or something? I heard the bug was finally fixed. I would have kept it but I thought for sure it couldn’t be transmuted when I was such a newbie, so I got rid of it eventually. Its part of my biography there should be some way to get it back somehow maybe through an NPC in your home instance or something?? Same goes for all classes unique starting headgear in my opinion. I received a response from a GM saying it was not possible to refund an individual item and I get that. But please take into considerations so many of us lost it or got rid of it due to a BUG.

Starting equipment can’t be acquired on the same character if it’s destroyed or sold.
However, there is a trick where you can make a new character with it, transmute it onto a WHITE item, and then it will be account bound, so you can give it to the character you want it on and transmute it for stats.
This also allows you to put starter items on classes that can’t get it normally, like a necro headpiece on a mesmer.

You have to reach the level of the item. After the lowest headpeace requires level 10, You have to reach level 10 for this trick. Also it is sometimes buggy, not working, logging out and in and then working.

I remember some talks about especially the ele headpiece being buggy, cause after transmuting it the aura will never show up.

Still works. I did this last week so I have all 4 of the “eyes” and also 2 of the necro starting head pieces.

It worked for me and it made my day..week..heck even month!
