So I stopped playing just shortly before the Halloween event. I’ve read over the patch notes and am interested in coming back now that the school semester is over; however, I’m curious how the game has changed since that time. My main is an elementalist who specced primarily as a glass cannon. How are we faring? What is the game like right now when playing as an ele? I ask this for all three areas: PvE, PvP, and W3.

Thanks!

I also play a glass cannon. Near as I can tell, hasn’t changed much. Still a bunch of damage dealt, still super squishy. Can’t say for PvP as I haven’t done it for a while, but PvE and WvW are virtually unchanged.

Ele hasnĀ“t changed all that much.

Few bug fixes, amongst them the EA nerf, but toehr than that nothing major.

I have the sense that the attitudes of and towards elementalists have changed to a remarkable degree and are now very positive. I think this is because more players have learned to play the class well. At the very least, most players understand that if they are not getting the results they expect, that lies with their ability to play the profession and not the profession itself. A well played elementalist is welcomed in every part of the game so I guess it is no wonder.

Maybe because everyone switched to DD ele?

I’d have to agree with the above post, it’s because everyone switched. The complaints are still very true to other weapon sets and D/D always had the least.

:) That has to be a big part of it. I haven’t noticed as many posts claiming attunement swapping is not necessary, for example, either. There are far fewer L2P comments about many subjects. Far more players have picked up on the fine points of the profession.

A big part of the success of the profession has to go to the players who frequent these forums and give constructive advice. There aren’t many secrets around here.

The D/D guide that was posted certainly helps as well ^^ Takes a chunk out of the learning curve.

Cool, well it’s good, at least, that everyone stopped whining =) I always did enjoy the ele, but there were just a few frustrations. I think after I hit 80 in PvE as a glass cannon and then tried to do some WvWvW, I got fed up, in part because my server was sucking but also because there wasn’t that much more to do.

Well, the damage hasn’t been beefed up, so you will have trouble as a glass cannon in PvP, mate. They have only made minor changes to the profession overall. Nothing that would affect a damage dealer, really. Nothing significant anyhow. But in time, hopefully they will.
