It’s a fairly decent trait to have, but how it is right now, it’s like an adept level trait only in the master tier. I can see this trait being paired with Aquamancer’s Alacrity.
You have to admit it is decent, because chill impacts the elementalist the most.

Yea it’s great. I use it in large fights as dagger dagger ele. Its one of those things that if I put twenty in water I’d pick it over cleansing a condition when attuneing to water

I wish it didn’t remove burning. Or didn’t have a cooldown. The way it is now it invariably leads to cleansing a burn from random dodging and then it’s on cooldown when you get chilled, which is the condition you really want to remove. The fact that it doesn’t remove conditions from allies means there is no excuse for it having this useless restriction.

There is no way this skill can compete with cleansing wave when they are on the same-tier. Wave is 1 condi per 10s, at a time that I control, in an AOE fashion. This ends up being 1 condi per 10s, at a random time when I have to dodge for evasive arcana or avoid an attack.

I’d love if this were adept level, and would feel like I could do well combining this with wave (especially since it was finally fixed a few patches ago).

Maybe they should remove the cooldown on it altogether. In the end, you only get so many dodges anyway.

Yea this is easily an adept tier trait that would be great at adept.

The problem is nothing in adept currently is worth moving up to master. Unless they just move a trait just for the sake of it(something I am not a fan of)

Arcane Abatement, Soothing Wave, Cantrip mastery, Shard of Ice, Piercing Shards, and Vital Striking.

The other problem is moving any of these up to master tier and then say buffing them to make them more master tier worthy would you still take them over cleansing wave?

As a 30 water elementalist I can do without cleansing wave and grab soothing disruption or perhaps a buffed soothing wave could work. Those that only have 20 in water cleansing is a much better option.

Why can’t they just combine Shard of Ice and Piercing Shards (and move that to Master maybe) and move Stop, Drop and Roll to Adept?

At the very least, SDnR should have its cooldown eliminated. Like someone else said, you have a limited number of dodges anyway, that should be punishment enough for trying to abuse this trait.

Eles have to pay such a high price for “on dodge” traits like SDnR and EA, I mean, evasive arcana is nice but it feels so expensive for a trait that will be used in earth/water 90%of the time, I wish we had it divided in adept traits so builds that can’t afford 30 arcana could get some of its effects, and builds that do get it could save at the very least 10 trait points.

They should move it to adept, seeing how you have to pick the least horrible one. Only good water adept nowdays is Cantrip Mastery. Vital Striking is ok for burst builds, but if you wish to play something that isn’t relying on cantrips or burst, you are left with no good alternative.
I’ve said it before, but an adept trait like Shards of Ice could be redone to benefit signets or glyphs, or both.
