Struggle against mesmer/thief FRESH AIR
I find staff easier to deal with thief because you put aoes under you and sit on them.

I felt in love with core fresh air ele(scpeter/focus) but thief/mesmer make my life a nightmare especially in wvw.
Do you have some tips against them? or do i have to deal with it and be aware to not be OS.
I seem to be able to hold my own against bad/not very good Daredevils or even completely wreck em.
Good daredevils are another thing tho, they are my worst WvW roaming nightmare when played like they are meant to be played.
1v1s they just feel like a landslide in their favour.
dodge their steal, reflect/dodge/blind their shadow shot. Make it harder for them to stick on you basically.
And make sure you are not wasting your crap into one of their 25 dodges, seems pretty obvious but still…

worst strategy ever..
a burst with castbreaker can easykill a staff ele.
D/D Aura or Fresh Air burst is the only roamers actually.
best you can do if you are newb, enter on metabattle.net and read some advices on WvW
wat is “castbreaker”?
i have top, bottom, mid in tempest staff and kill thieves with overloads all the time without getting interrupted.

Dealing with thieves can be really frustrating as a Fresh Air Ele, but can be really satysfying beating them in duels.
Against Condi Thief is a patience game, you should take the sigil of cleansing and spam “Magnetic Wave” (Earth Focus number 4) to cleanse their condi.
Thieves who aren’t using pistol instead, are quite easy to take down. Try to root them in place with Arcane Blast, while attuned to earth (Hoping you have the right trait in the Arcana tree) and then use your normal burst combo + Phoenix, you should be able to melt them in a matter of second.
Save your “Obsidian Flesh” while you’re almost dead, since they will try to burst you down, and then it’s the right moment when to hit, 3 seconds are more than enough to melt them!

Magnetic wave have a long cooldown,you can’t spam it.
You can’t root a thief.(they cleanse all moblity condi with evade so…)
I don’t know what kind of thief you fight but mine just go in stealth and literraly one shot me.
In a duel with /bow you can prepare yourself but in wvw they came from nowhere you don t even have the time to use obsidian flesh.
