[Suggestion] Easy way to fix weaver
But this would proc on-swap traits, which may be too strong. fully attuning the offhand through an f5 though could do it.
This looks like a familiar idea from about three other posts on the front page.
Or make weapon swap button to swap attunements.
I like having the attunement swap the way it is now. Maybe have a slightly lower global cool down on attunement swap, but not any lower than 3 seconds. The way it is now requires forethought and planning rather than just knee jerk reactions. Once I got a bit more of a feeling for playing Weaver I didn’t have too much of a problem and I was playing more aggressively. There was always something that I could do. I think a lot of elementalists are too reliant on obsidian flesh for their defense rather than all of the other skills that are available.
I preferred to use dagger in my offhand as I felt that there was more I could do with any given offhand attunement. I never even used focus for my offhand as it feels too narrow in its game play, though focus does help a lot with projectile hate and any ranged burst.
I’m seeing a lot of posts asking for a way to get weaver to have attunement swapping behavior like core ele.
I’m not going to say this is a good or bad idea at this point, but what I will say is just give it a bit of time. We’ve only had one demo weekend with weaver so far, and of course it feels unfamiliar to how we’re used to doing things.
But for all we know, someone finds some combination of stats, sigils, and abilities and all of a sudden Weaver is OP.
Anyway, if PoF is out for a few weeks and everyone still thinks that Weaver is broken, then okay maybe ANet needs to do something. But I think it’s a little early to pull the fire alarm and ask for a major class change after one demo weekend.

No. It’s a trade-off.
You’ll have to change your rotations to be able to play it well.
You will need to keep that defensive attunements always in your rotation to be able to use the defense quick.
If you are in earth/fire and want fire/earth you just tap fire again…
> You will need to keep that defensive attunements always
Sorry, but there is no tactical depth in always staying in Lightning attunement just so you have an RTL ready on swap when you need to escape. Locking the player in one attunement is essentially the same as killing the core elementalist mechanic. I’m not gonna stay in Air 24/7 just so I can access RTL faster. There really is no tactical depth in that and people need to stop thinking there is.

You don’t understand what I meant… and you completely hacked my comment…

I never said you need to camp an attunement, but keep defenses close.
If your defense is RDL and stoneskin, then you will need to include earth and air on every second attunement swap.
And sword has a few other defenses too..
It will take a while for people to get used to it, but I think there is potential.
My main problem with it was the short distance of the gap closers/openers and the low attack speed.

^^^^This!
Like I said. “Playing well” doesn’t translate to camping your main hand attunement in lightning. That’s not weaver. That’s only half of a weaver (2 elements only).
There is nothing “played well” here, no “tactical depth” that people speak of. It’s godkitten camping attunements and there is absolutely nothing great about it.
When we want to access an attunement skill and the attunement is not on cd, we should be able to double tap the attunement or use the attunement + F5 button (both ideas seem perfect to me). Traits and swap effects can be adjusted to work in a balanced way.
And please stop repeating that you can swap between earth/fire by pressing fire again in this matter, everybody knows. This is completely irrelevant since you still have to camp 2 attunements to have skills ready. That’s not weaver and the elite skill also supports that perspective, to utilize all 4 elements at any given time.

This makes no sense.
Defensive skills are there for when you need, you know DEFENSE.
Keeping them in your rotation means you’ll have a 75% chance of not being able to access them when you need them.
At its core, the Ele is designed as a reactive class, hence why its ONLY defense is healing along with a smattering of skills like Obsidian Flesh. It has none of the defenses like Shroud, Stealth, Illusions or anything else. And, the Ele’s mobility and healing coefficients have been horrendously nerfed over the last several years.
So please, stop posting the same ridiculous argument in every thread on the board.
