One way to boost elementalist survival and damage, is to provide us with passive shields based upon our attunements.

Fire Shield – passive ability when attuned to fire – burns foes in a 5m radius and incinerates projectiles reducing projectile damage by 15%.

Air Shield – passive ability when attuned to air – pushes back a maximum of three foes within 5m of the elementalist and emits a shock to all foes within 5m that causes it to jump from foe to foe up to 4 times, increasing in damage 1%, 2%, 3%,4%.

Water Shield – passive ability when attuned to water – washes all burns and poison away from allies and elementalist within 20m and floods an area around the elementalist up to 5m which can be frozen to root enemies or charged with lightening to provide an AOE ability that damages all foes.

Earth Shield – passive ability when attuned to earth – blinds a maximum of 3 foes within 5m of the elementalist by throwing dust/dirt into their eyes and provides the elementalist with an earthen shield which absorbs 20% of physical and spell damage

Isnt it just a stronger version of traits?
While atuned to water you may auto-remove conditions and heal yourself, earth attunment gives you more toughness per level, fire traits give you more chances of burning…
