So I’ve had a google around and can’t find an answer … does anyone know if the magnetic aura from the 6 set bonus from superior rune of the earth triggers powerful auras?

Never really tested it, but it should trigger…given that it also triggers on auras from combos. Maybe you can try it for yourself in the PvP area against the ‘profession npcs’ in the northern area?

That does work actually, as does blast finishing in an Ice Field. You’re thinking of Powerful Auras, which doesn’t work with combo fields. But traits like Zephyr’s Boon and Elemental Shielding work just fine.

The op asked specifically about powerful aura, and he’s right.

Ice field + blast finisher = AoE frost armor (regardless of powerful auras)
Ice field + Leap finisher = Personal frost armor (does not work with powerful auras)
Fire field + Leap finisher = Personal fire armor (does not work with powerful auras)

And there is no way to proc AoE fire armor as a blast finisher in a fire field gives AoE might instead.

Last time I tested rune of earth the 20% protection duration doesn’t work. Not sure if it has been fixed since then which was about 2 weeks ago. Rune of the grove doesn’t work either.

Did you test them with Armor of Earth, and compare the actual stability with the actual protection duration? Because last time I used them, the boon duration didn’t change in the descriptions but it did work in practice. I found Armor of Earth a good skill to test it with because of the double boons.

You are both incorrect, MrMiyagi your friend must not have been standing close enough, powerful auras does not have a very long range and while I’ve never tested it out I believe the range depends on the aura, as it always seemed much easier to get my fire aura on all five members than my frost or shocking aura.

But I haven’t used this build for a few months now, even then it seemed incredibly unlikely that they would have removed this functionality without it being in the patch notes, so just to make sure I went and tested it in the mists, powerful auras DOES work with tempest defense, screencap attached if you don’t believe me.

I’m not a fan of the staff so I had no idea whether or not it works with magnetic aura, but is seemed ridiculously unlikely that it wouldn’t. Tested that as well, it does work. Mash Hog, I swear this better some kind of major misunderstanding, if you didn’t know you shouldn’t have spoken up, if you did spreading false information on the forums for kicks and giggles is a punishable offense.

I was never able to get Tempest Defense to work with Powerful Auras, but I have thoroughly experimented with the Runes of the Earth and I know for a fact that Runes of the Earth do not proc with Powerful Auras.

We are NOT discussing the Auras that come with the weapon skills (Dagger Air 3) or (Staff Earth 3), we are discussing the procs which come from Runes of the Earth (6), and Tempest Defense Trait.

About Runes of Earth I have no idea, I thought you guys were just talking about magnetic aura in general, not specifically magnetic aura with rune of earth. But powerful auras does proc Tempest Defense, this is the umpteenth time I’ve seen people say it doesn’t and as I use that build occasionally, it always makes me question my sanity for a moment.

Powerful auras procs Tempest defense, Fire’s Embrace, and auras it gives to you and allies both apply zephyrs boon and elemental shielding, and the buffs those two traits give you do scale with your boon duration. I’ve come across claims that all of the above traits do not work with each other at some time or another, tested each, and found them all false. In fact the single aura-related trait that does not work with Powerful Auras is Arcane Resurrection, no idea why. Though it does still work with zephyrs boon and elemental shielding.

EDIT: And so far as I can tell, in PvP Rune of Earth doesn’t work period. I’ve gone below 20% health several times now agains the mist AI bots without the aura proccing.

EDIT EDIT: Ahah, figured it out, doesn’t even proc against melee attacks, which makes sense as it wouldn’t work against them anyway, but it would be nice to have the boons it can give… and no it does not proc powerful aura.
