Swap 3rd Downed Skill with 2nd
The strongest point with a elementalists is they have the most powerful downed abilities. Sure they are useless 90% of the time but if you down another opponent at the exact same time or even a few seconds after he downs you then you will come out victorious because your mist form resets your down meter to 50%. Your elemental also doesn’t go away while downed so be sure to use that ice elemental!

Are we playing the same game? i know it resets your downed meter to 50% but honestly i think that may be a bug
It isn’t a bug. Vapor form literally brings you up and down again. So if you do too many vapor forms in a row you will be insta-killed when the vapor form downs you again.
And I don’t agree with swapping 2 and 3 because then we’d be left with a completely useless skill but it is on a longer cool down, making it even more useless. I’d rather have a non-useless skill to replace 2.

they could make that skill better and tweak vapor form. as it is the current downed skills for ele arent helping them at all in pvp, since every other class can delay being stomped without a pet or nearby ally
They could at least make the immobize have a 1/4th second daze to prevent a stomp
How about 2 non-useless skills to replace 2 and 3? I suppose they could be tweaked so 2 doesn’t take 10 minutes to activate and 3 moves you more than an inch and a half, but both are pretty fundamentally pointless.

I suggested in another ele downstate complaint thread an aoe slow or burn channel to replace 2. Feel that a slow may not be horribly useful if you get down with a bunch of people on you but you’re kind of out of luck with a knockback if they have stability too so… The slow would also help with vapor form to let you increase distance easier. The problem is the slow would have to have a largish area of effect. The aoe burn would be just a spite move to try to down someone first.
If you want to damage & slow them down while you’re in vapor form, you already got the Icy Mist trait for that… ^^;
I think the downed state skills are fine as they are, even if they’re almost useless in pvp when the enemies are already next to you.

Skill 2 is total nonsense compared to other classes’ downed skills. It needs to have a daze added.
I personally think that it would be good thematically if when downed we became to “weak” to use elements, so we’d have to resort to arcane (elementless)
My suggestions would be:
1: arcane shot: a weaker version of arcane blast, stacks vulnerability like lightning does now
2: Arcane push: weaker version of arcane wave, knocks back to avoid the stomp of death
3: arcane bubble: weaker/shorter version of arcane shield, requires more hits to cause the explosion (will act as a shield against a few enemies, and a final “screw you” in zergs)
I like mistform, I really do. But ye gods does it have a long cooldown, in PVE its only usable 50% of the time and in PVP you’ll be long, long dead before it becomes available.
The second skill is utterly useless. In PVE the monsters will either just range you to death, or if they are melee, chances are they are already right on top of you when you go down. If they are not, they WILL be by the time you can actually use the skill.
Exactly the same deal with PVP, it will never actually prevent someone from just stomping your squishykitten

The strongest? Please come back and tell us that it is the strongest AFTER you have been able to stop a first stomp like every other profession is able to.
Make the begining of the immobilize channel push the target back X distance then immobilize them after being pushed back for the duration of the channel.

I wasn’t suggesting both (hence the use of “or”). Additionally, the problem with say “oh you get that with a vapor form trait” is that we so rarely get to use vapor form because our cc #2 ability is so completely useless. We have have to rely on the people downing us to either not realize they did or for them to be too busy to kill us before our vapor form cd finishes. My suggestion to just turn #2 into an aoe slow would at least give us a better shot of even using vapor form. At this point, #2 might as well not exist because it doesn’t do its job.
I think switching 2 and 3 would be a good start but we need something else. Once they find us again what’s to stop them from just downing us on the second try? It just feels like it’s delaying the inevitable unless they change that second skill from something other than a useless immobilize. Maybe let us summon a lesser Elemental based on our attunement, or a small GtAoE field based on the attunement we died in.

I never survive being downed unless I can get LoS with mist-form. I focus on never getting downed.
