Tactics on how to deal with a thief?
I found something! After like 40 minutes of searching haha
The trick to beating a thief is the same for every profession. If you don’t have an immunity, aoe stun, aoe knockback, aoe blind, or a fast evade ability, just dodge after the cloak and dagger. It takes a bit of practice but is predictable and easy to spot. Cloak and dagger is the second biggest hit you’ll take from a BS thief, so if you see a big number (not a really big one like BS that is), dodge and run for 3 seconds. You can also wait until you see the thief disappear or hear the stealth sound, then dodge and run.
If you can avoid the backstabs, the thief will be an easy kill.
The real trick is every 45 seconds when they have steal and basilisk venom. As against every profession, you need to be alert at all times and be watching for red names to pop up. Once you see a thief, the fight has begun. Get ready to predodge when they get within 900 range. Dodge twice if you have to, but not away from them, to the side or toward them. You WANT them to waste that steal and basilisk venom on a dodge. The point isn’t to take no damage, but rather to not get hit by backstab. Have a finger hovering over your stun break, because if that steal hits, you’re dead unless you break the venom and avoid the stab.
Tips:
*Don’t let them hit you in the back
*Stealth is NOT immunity, you can still hit them even if you don’t see the numbers
*They will try to stealth every 4-5 seconds, anticipate it
*Knockbacks, slows, and immobilizes really hurt them
*Stealth lasts 3 seconds
*You are in danger at 900 range
*50%+ HP = safe, under 50%HP = danger, 25% = dead
*Good thieves will blind you while finishing you off. Remove the blind with a 1 attack then interrupt
*Thieves have no defense. A few good hits will make them panic or play more defensively.
If all else fails, mash dodge and blow all your cooldowns to do as much damage as possible. Even if you get downed, you may be able to down them right after and win on the ground.
Thieves are the highest single target dps class, but they are also the most vulnerable when that damage is negated. Don’t panic, mentally prepare for the encounter, and hit the right buttons. Noob ganking thieves will go down like nothing, and skilled ones will be in for a challenge. The outcome will usually depend on who crits more.
Congrats you answered your own post.
I would like to add the combination for dnd ele fighting 1 thief.
Hit 3 in air, 4 in fire, 3 in earth , 4 then 3 in water and switch back to air.
2 thieves can be a problem.
Note when you down a thief , hang in there and hit aoe spells and wait for thief to stealth.
funny thing happened today. I spotted a thief enter shadow refuge from quite a distance away. Knowing he would be coming after me, I just stood in my position without moving and surrounded my self with a static field and dropped every AoE at my disposal on top of myself. Next thing you know, he pops up right next to me in a downed state
As i was stomping, he tried to blink away, but i just lightning flashed to his location and got him. (lightning flash doesn’t interrupt stomping, for those of you who don’t know )
