what i’m seeing in this post is warhorn hate
not tempest

i, for one, am looking forward to 4 additional spells as a staff ele in wvw….. even if they are mediocre at best
using the earth overload specifically for the breakbar
having immunity to chill/cripple/immobilize during the rest of the channels if i’m attempting to retreat from poor position choices, especially the water one providing a bit of extra healing
not to mention shock and magnetic aura
mmmmm

the elite skill brings healing rain or meteor shower cooldowns down a chunk, too
also focus’ obsidian flesh
/dagger for ride the lightning or fire grab/earthquake/cleansing wave cooldowns sound hefty for such big skills

just figures the elite has a cast time and can’t be used so quickly for when you need those important reaction-based-skills…..

along with using it when a Banner is called….. and hope they get it, still clunky problems, but, the option is there

everyone is currently hating warhorn for the most part, so that’s the problem, not “tempest” so much

Warhorn Fire 5 is the biggest fire field seen to date. Damage can change, and he was in Crusader gear, so it won’t be the biggest dps.
Glyph of Storms does not pulse might in fire, sandstorm can’t blind more than 5 targets, icestorm doesn’t heal and in any attunement, it doesn’t move, so easy to avoid.
If you like damage builds, do what’s been working for you already. If you’d like more support, look at Tempest.

Glyph of storms also doesn’t take 4 and a half seconds to cast.

I don’t even know what you’re saying through the profanity filter, but warhorn and shouts cast quicker than most glyphs. Yes, overloads are the longest casts in the game, second only to Guardian full heal, but they give out something during the entire cast time, and if they complete, big pay off.

But if you’re looking at DPS, Tempest is probably not for you. That specialisation was clearly made for group support, especially with auras.
But I’ll agree that Overloads are a bit underwhelming when you see their cast time…

Indeed, it would have been strange for Anet to give ele more dps tools and capabilities. Ele Is already the King of damage in the actual pve meta. Adding more support tools was definitely a better move.

If those tools will be ever used in pve.

They won’t be used in speed clear : You sacrifice too much +X% damage modifier for what you bring as offensive support.

The only thing I see is the quickness share and extension w/ warhorn.

You are not losing as much damage as you think you do while channeling, because you do damage while channeling, overload is not just some big effect at the end of the casting.

Fire Overload does damage, applies burn on foes, gives might stacks on allies while channeling for every pulse. So depending on how often it pulses it should give more damage than your auto attacks.

The big “problem” of Fire Overload is the less than dagger range.

Also, Overload does not lock you out of your attunement. You can use overload fire and stay in fire the cooldown of the overload is only a problem if you change attunements.

Warhorn pt stun brakes i think going to be the big thing about tempest that is a very powerful effect and abitly and its on a 10 sec cd. As for the overload hate i realty do not get it if your not good at it then your going to fail most of the time with it so you simply do not use it. There a lot more about tempest then just overload but like all classes tempest got a new f1-f4 system.
Its out right shocking how ppl cant see the level of power this is going to have in all formates did they even watch the video? There is not one skill on WH that is week there not one shout that is weak and the overloads are a high risk reward that you can start to chanal for the big effect alone OR use it as a “i am charging you better stop me” type of tank.

The damage of those overload is low already, the fact you channel them for 4 and a half second makes them even worse.

In the video the fire overload was critting for 1.6-2.2k on the Heavy golem and 1.8-2.4k on the medium golem (adjusted damage because he was getting Might). The skill hit 5 times while channeling and another 5 times after the channel finished (the fire tornado thing) and he ended up with 11 stacks of Might (at some point he got 2 stacks, he went from 4 to 6 very quickly). The skill also applied Burning that ticked from 381-480 damage per tick, that’s 2k damage on the Heavy golem. I’d wait to see it in action with full Berserker gear and enough damage mods to see what it can really do. Or what it can do with full 25 stacks of might pre-stacked.

Maybe the damage will be higher than expected

Plus its whirl finisher which will also apply extra burn through the fire field and that is also more damage. And it stays in place for quite a while after the channel.
Im not into pve at all but isnt the overload better dps(including all above) than spamming fireball with staff between lava fonts?
Also it gives respectable damage in air if you happen to leave fire as well so you dont lose much during those 16 sec you wait.
Lastly those skills dont take utility slots.YOu can still bring icebows glyph of storms etc and use them in between and they dont have 60 sec cd like utilities

Ele has no dps spec viable in pvp, but a very strong support spec. Please stop looking at things from pve point of view only.
