Whoa, whoa, whoa…
Is that the original Flamekissed Armor she’s wearing in that picture?!
It really looks like it to me. It even has the fire emitting jewels, whereas the Human T3 version just has jewels. I really hope it is and that it means they’re doing something with cultural armor appearance upgrade tiers and it’ll be available again.

I know people wanted swords for mainhand.
But its important to look at it in perspective. Offhand weapons give access to two weapon skills. Elementalists have 4 attunements, meaning from an offhand weapon you get 8 new skills.
Compare that to 3 from a main hand for another prof or 5 for a 2 hander. Either way it doesn’t compare. I’m all for swords, was really hoping for them, but 12 new abilities for an ele is pretty insane.
^ that would apply to any offhand and is not specific to the warhorn. It’s the warhorn, that’s the issue (at least for me).
Unlikely to be a 5th attunement, not only is there not really a 5th element to use for it, but would also mean they would have to design new skills for every single existing ele weapon. And beside that the f5 on chronomancer aint exactly a 5th shatter either, but a different kind of class skill
Heart!
But, I’m going to be very disappointed if one of the Warhorn abilities is not called “Song of Storms”.
I feel like all the negative feedback to the warhorn is unwarranted. We dint know anything about the spec. And unlike any other class to get an offhand, we will be getting skills for every attument , well already be getting more skills then any other class would with a mainhand, Idk. I’m not worried about it.
-snip-
It is just objectively the worst outcome.

Really? do you know for a fact that it is not main-hand Warhorn?

Wanna know something weird? They datamined the horn of the teaser image recently and it had two sigils on it. Not claiming anything and maybe it was just for testing… But what is if it actually is a 2 handed weapon?

It’s not, it was explained why that was. It was an ascended greatsword skinned to be the datamined item (in this case a warhorn) as it couldn’t show the actual item.
I’m actually really intrigued by this Warhorn, since it seems those that get 2-handed weapons (guardian, Necro) get existing Profession mechanics edited, and those that get an off-hand (Mesmer) get an extra skill (f5 shatter). I wonder how that would apply to Elementalist? a Fifth attunement sounds a bit crazy lol.
I think you are WAY over-extrapolating from a sample size of “those aren’t patterns yet”
Exactly. Although there seems to have been a datamined/leaked class-ability called “Singularity” which becomes avaiable after staying in an Attunement for a longer period of time, which will have some active effects. So i guess Ele might just really get an F%, or after x seconds you can press the attunement you are in again to activate it… Which would be 4 more class-mechanic-skills. (Well or one that has 4 different effects depending on attunement, depending on how you look at it and whether it has a shared CD).

I know for a fact that the warhorn is held in the eles left hand in the teaser and that every single main hand and two handed weapon in the game is held in the right hand and every single offhand weapon in the game is held in the left hand.
So yes, I do in fact know that for a fact.

ANet: “We saw how the elementalist was lacking in the support category, so for their elite specialization, we’ve decided to address this. The warhorn will bring much needed healing and condition cleanses to the elementalist which should help with their sustain. Meanwhile, since the thief is lacking in the melee weapon department, we’ve decided to address this by making their elite specialization a melee staff. This should help compliment the thief’s multitude of 1200 range weapons and lack of a solid melee option.”
“much needed healing and condition cleanses” on an ele? yea right
Could you please provide a link to that source? Or did you just make up the quote?
It’s obviously made up xD

That’s very obviously made up as a joke on the weapon choices. Pretty good one too I may add.

Where is the Tempest teaser trailer? Seems strange that the others all got one but Tempest doesn’t? Is it still unfinished to show? What’s up?
So far every elite spec got a teaser trailer aside from Tempest, why is that?
We get shouts, warhorn and no teaser trailer.
I honestly have low expectations for tomorrow.
Because this particular elite spec happens to be the runt of the litter. I guess it’ll be in the live stream.
They are busy making 2 for the engineer.
What elementalist getting something?
We should just be glad we had the interview leak of info, which sadly brings more info than the post they put out today.
it got even worser, sigh
It became a ridiculous “Sturmbote” for in German, what would be practically retranslated back into English “Storm Messenger/”Herald"/Envoy/>>Summoner<</Runner/Mercury/Harbinger/Legman/(Errand)Delivery Boy(Man)" << rolleyes
Just could puke over this senseless name abomination, that is just a result from Anets braindead “high concept naming” of things, without thinking about it, if their chosen terms even fit for other languages and force them to come up with thought out nonsense, just so that they have some weird names that somehow sound like a class name, but absolutely not like a trustworthy profession, breaking in all languages out of a sudden now with their own naming scheme of one word class names and putting nonsensicalyl words together just to make the result look like its one word (cough..Dragonhunter lol)
The same like this example is done here now with Sturmbote (Storm “insert whatever of million English synonyms you want here”, when it would have been much better to just name it Herold, what would be the most fitting translation of “Herald”, but then again, Herald is not exactly = Tempest again, cause ANet wants us forcefully all to associate this E-Spec with storms, which are in the god kitten end nothing else now, but just OVERCHARGED attunements ROFL, just disappointing
And for all of this just this peeped up naming mess, where multi language better compatible terms like Summoner or Herald would have worked so much better…
Summoner is also nothing that would suit only to Necromancer – anyone who believes something such idiotic, clearly must have forgotten, that this profession can create/summon also too Elementals as their “Minions” and with this E Spec would have existed the potential chanc,e that we coudl have seen maybe an alot improved gameplay around summoned Elementals and with that overcharge gameplay perhaps the ability to temporarly transform themself into Elemental Avatars (Djinns), but no, this potential got thrown just out of the window for nothing but lame overcharged burst skills that lock that used element attunement after the usage out for you then for 20 seconds, cause of exhaustion.
How should I just say it politely – I’ve expected something better of Anet …
Actually, it makes sense. Sturmbote-> warhorn-> a messager trumpeting around on his horn, announcing some storm. Heck, when considered together with the weapon choice it probably makes as much if not even a little more sense than Tempest. Silly name for a silly spec- I’d say it fits just fine.
Perhaps they’ve decided that since they’re going to do an in-depth look at the specialization during the livestream anyway, spending the time to create a teaser trailer is a waste of time.
I know it’s been a bee in your bonnet for quite a while, Orpheal, and I appreciate that it matters so much to you. I believe in the power of names and do my best to call others what they want to be called and even to pronounce it correctly if it doesn’t completely baffle my American English tongue.
But I don’t think the problem lies in the names ANet chooses (leaving “Dragonhunter” aside) so much as in what the translation team does when it goes for literal translations instead of the closest connotative equivalent. ANet is primarily steeped in American English, they are based in the US, and they just aren’t going to intuitively write in other languages.
I can write in German. Well, at one time I could. I studied it for five years and got to the point of pronouncing it without an American accent. For a term project I helped write a murder mystery script for a video we did in class. But at my best I couldn’t write a good poem in German to save my life, whereas I think I can craft a pretty darn good Shakespearean sonnet in English without a hint of doggerel.
You’re asking people to think of fine nuance in foreign languages when choosing how to write in their native tongue. That’s simply not feasible. Yell at the translators, not the original writers, hmm?
Perhaps they’ve decided that since they’re going to do an in-depth look at the specialization during the livestream anyway, spending the time to create a teaser trailer is a waste of time.
But it’s not, people on youtube prefer to check ~1min videos than 20minutes videos of class preview.
They’re still waiting for the overcharge timer to kick in. ba dum tis

I was surprised and Sad :/

I’m asking myself the same thing.
Honestly it’s better that they work on the expansion than on a trailer. Specially considering that by the looks of it the expansion will never make it this summer.
Nah, I’m not blaming the writers, except for DH
PS: If theres just one problem with the writers at all, then only, that they create under their american mindet names and terms, for an internatioal played game, with a big international player audience/target group, beign unable to use international compatible names and terms, that are easy to translate, instead they come up with term abominations, which tortures even their own English grammar, just to make the results look like one words (Dh instead of correct D H), even if there exist tons of simpler and easier translatable one word solutions that even make from a complete design standpoint much more sense, but are too proud to admit that and instead insult the whole game community to be too stupid to understand all of this, cause of..you know, …high concept >.> /big trollface

They should just cut up some video footage from existing elementalists with some overlapping footage of Necro Shouts and a Warrior blowing on a Warhorn and you’re set.
I wouldn’t have minded if the others hadn’t got a teaser trailer.
So far they’ve shown inconsistency across the board, everything seems all over the place and not very well planned out. This is why I have low expectations.
It’s ok guys, I found it https://youtu.be/wf2P8SnOwLo?t=2m15s
Devs don’t care enough about ele to make a decent elite which every ele has been crying for over 3 years, so they sure as kitten don’t care enough to make a decent video for it.
They knew how awful Tempest was and didn’t want to put it on video.
What if the ability/change of the tempest makes it so you can split attunements, one for mh and one for oh? though what do to do with skills…
That seems extremely and overly complicated, I do not see that happening EVER.
Actually, it would be pretty easy. When you select an attunement, it applies to your main hand. Your previous attunement shifts to your off hand. Allow changing to an attunement more than once, and you can just shift to an element twice in a row to set all your skills to that one.
If they did this with a good elite, then it would become important to consider what order you rotate your attunements in, but it would also allow you access to mixed skills. (And if it worked on a staff as well, just think of what your skill selection would look like when you mixed fire and water together.)
