1. Datamined skills are mostly placeholders for dagger skills, could have been a scrapped idea.
2. First sword looks like it may be the Shiro Tagachi sword. Neither of the swords shout out “Tempest” as much as that warhorn does.
3. Shield may be the Revenant Elite Spec shield (Glint).
4. It’s all speculation. Both sword and warhorn.

Neither of those swords look ele themed in the slightest and the shield is for rev’s elite glint spec.

The shield is glint-themed, which will probably be for the revenant’s elite spec.

The warhorn is wave/ storm-themed, and fits very well with the leaked elementalist’s artwork spec.

Warhorn is a support weapon, something eles got in abundance, why in hell anet would give a 3rd support line ( water, arcana being 1st and 2nd) to eles?

As much as I want you to be right, the recent evidence in favor of warhorn is pretty convincing

I doubt it, and I’d still be unhappy. The whole animation of bringing the warhorn to your characters face and blowing for an affect is just… I hate it. So much.

If we were to get sword, I think they would show this in the artwork somehow; whereas the warhorn is not a very aesthetic weapon to display.

How about this. We do get a stupid warhorn, but we also get new dagger skills. The datamined skills seem to be based on daggers. What if the dagger skills change when holding a warhorn?

It would make it makes sense. Only question is why they wrote stab and slash.

No doubt that a warhorn would be CC/disable/burst oriented, what else could it be?

-defense, sustain, support, CC?…we have focus
-damage,mobility, sustain, support, CC…we have dagger OH

Well forget the thread, I’ve..changed my mind about warhorn, thought about it and it I can see the combo now because…eles would get number 4 and 5 skills on every attunement and..

-the devs said "professions getting an off hand will see a skillset still worth the specialization, they will be powerful enough to rival the mh specialization*

-the powerful skills are always tied to number 4-5 on each weapon set ( generally speaking)

-Tempest will still be CC based at the very least and I see some good burst with it.

But what’s better I’ll be able to combine tempest with air/fire and water, so expect a burst spec that will rock your world

I will always prefer the idea of Sword compared to a Warhorn, the animations alone would have much greater potential with a sword and lets not even mention how awesome Bolt would look (I’ve wanted to wield bolt on my Ele for so long!).

Sadly I’m pretty sure they were toying with the idea of using sword (hence the placeholder skills) but in the end it didn’t work out for whatever reason and they settled with Warhorn.

Till we get the details it’s like we’re a buncha dogs chasing our own tails. Just wait and see what we get. If you don’t like it, there’s tons of other fun classes and specializations being done and hell even the base Elementalist class is pretty great now

That’s what I am afraid of. Instead of getting a kitten arcane tempest duelist, using physical skills and focusing on melee single target burst, we could get someone that blows in a horn… Wow…

I really really hope that the warhorn datamine is just a gemstore skin or something. Warhorn just well… sucks thematically. Sword or really any other weapon would be so much cooler. Not to mention that warhorns ingame give support and buffs, something that the ele already has PLENTY of.

It’s pretty certain to me that it is intended to be an Elite weapon. All of the other elite weapons added this patch have a normal and ascended version, as did the warhorn, so at the very least, it’s not likely to be gem store related.

I don’t think it match tempest thematically. I think it match a kittened up elite spec thematically.

Omg still this useless link… first this link is from so long time ago (things change) and secondly those are dagger skills with few changes on the auto-attack skills, so I doubt this is for sword.

Then, the sword you linked it could easily be a gem store sword, does this look to you like a Tempest themed weapon?!

The second sword could be elementalist themed but again no tempest, nothing to indicate winds or storms.

The shield even if it is crystal it has a layout that reminds me of a tornado, so could possible fit the concept but we already have Mesmer getting shield and the quality of that shield is more of a Legendary weapon, too shinny and bold!

Lastly check that code [&AgEUEQEAAA==], this could easily be a tempest weapon!

Give me a kitten sword. I wanted to play greatsword on elementalist since I started the game more than two years ago. Then they announced the specializations and I hoped. Necro got the GS eventually, and I’m happy for them. But please give us a main hand weapon, anything, just not a useless warhorn for even more support we neither need nor want.

i said the current guardian for a reason. it matches a dragonhunter but not the guardian, so the warhorn can not match the original profession but still match its specialization

would wanted a sword for high mobility elemental dueling but well… i’ve been telling people that the datamined skills were dagger skills since they were shown on reddit but people never want to believe….

its is easier to configure 8 skills than 12 i guess especially if we exclude AA.

It’s definitely easier for animation team.

I keep hearing about people talk animations. You know, if ele really did get a sword, the animations would mostly be recycled anyway. Besides, it’s not all about character animation but also particle effects and sounds. I’m hoping if warhorn is a thing, the visuals will be fancy and portray a great force that big storms are.

The second sword is the one Rytlock uses to open up the entrance to the jungle. It’ll be a gem store weapon, almost certain.

What is wrong with getting a sword? That it’s probably a melee weapon? Imagine that with a warhorn, you are stuck with the only non-horrible mainhand that is actually a melee weapon. With sword you can at least pick between a focus and a dagger.

Yep, and the animations look like crap (the whole bringing the warhorn to your face part). Argue all you want, it’s personal taste on skins and animations.

The only arguments I’ve seen to convince others that warhorn would be better than sword were:

It would look cool!
It synergizes with tempest! (it doesn’t really)
I can use my Howler!

I don’t think that’s enough to convince me warhorn wouldn’t be bad.

tbh I never felt the elementalist vibe on wielding a sword. I guess i like the dagger too much.

Anyway looking at this photo, if i use my current knowledge of the game i’d say that:
– It could be anything, it doesn’t look big enough to be the datamined warhorn, it seems to short to be a sword and it kind of broadens up at the edge, kinda like a mace or a club
– It could be an offhand weapon, it’s positioned on the left hand where we keep our offhand weapons in combat.
– I read somewhere on reddit saying what looks to be a quiver. Getting hyped by that fact, i started to see a shortbow look around the left hand. If i remember, we hold bows with the left hand and the right hand draws the arrows.
– Everything i said may be wrong and stupid, all those strange things may just be part of the flame or whatnot.
