Tempest aura spam not rewarding?
You don’t want to get hit by the big death attacks, but if Anet has learned anything the bosses won’t just be throwing big, easily avoidable death attacks around 100% of the time. Otherwise people will just avoid the damage through active defense and zerk through the content like its nothing just like dungeons and such.
Particularly if they’re trying to incentivize healing, they’re going to need some sustained damage to wear down people without being easily avoided.
I guess you additionally need to spec into earth for protection, and air for swiftness + fury on aura. I believe those boons get copied over as well. Ideally the tempest traitline would boost auras, but it does not.
But I agree, 3 of the 4 auras by themselves are almost useless.
Ok, when you make a specialization with this much focus on auras, shouldn’t the auras be usefull? I mean 10% less damage in raids (according to Anet info) isn’t very much. Shock auras in Raids are nearly worthless, since you don’t even want to get hit, subtracting a tiny amount of breakbar from a boss in worthless, right? Fire aura is next to non existent. Magnetic aura on the other hand is very good, but why need it, when mesmer or guard can do the same?
Note: These auras are much stronger in WvW or PvP, since they are configured to player standards, not bosses. Why couldn’t there be a trait that added extra functionality to auras in pve, otherwise Tempest can simply be deleted from PvE.
If they could freaking fix powerful auras the auras would be useful. Ten second magnetic auras that didn’t force allies to stack behind walls of reflection, or hope the enemy summons projectiles from one targetable direction so you can feedback.
Shocking aura is a hard cc, in some instances a single attack to your team will break the bar. But only if they fix how cleaves process multiple auras.
The should just make all auras stack in duration by now. There would be so much beauty in running staff, and doing magnetic aura+shock and aftershock, followed by eruption into ice field+arcane wave+arcane brillance+ flash freeze. Netting your allies 30 seconds of protection, 28 seconds of frost aura, and 15 seconds of magnetic aura. And if the traits remain as they are now. That would be 46% damage reduction.
Learn as much mending and medical info as possible so that it can be added to the Dream.
