Does anyone feel like these shouts should be pronounced in some weird magical language? Rather than just being like “Hey you there! FEEL THE BURN!” Doesn’t sound or feel very Ele or even magical at all. It just sounds like I’m taunting my foe and giving them a wedgie with my burning fists.

Does anyone else feel like that?

I personally think that would be a great idea. Since I don’t know how the whole Lore will compete with this concept.

Maybe:
Upon the discovery of the new lands the elementalist used his wisdom and knowledge to focus his magical prowess on the ancient, long forgotten languages. He used them to command the winds but not ordinary winds – the power which would grant him and his allies powers which were thought to be forgotten long ago. He prayed to the gods, they heard his wishes and granted him the power to read the ancient languages and prosper in them. Thus the Tempest was born.

“Feel the Burn” is ok as a shout. Sure some arcane gibberish would be nice but also much harder for other players to remember what you just did (for or to them).

But “Eye of the Storm” and “Aftershock” dont really come over as something anyone would shout, also the words dont sound active enough. They should be changed into “Bring the thunder” and … (cant think of an appropriate active sounding shout atm).

Fire (Feel the Burn) →“All shall burn!”,
Earth (Aftershock) →“None shall past”
Water/Air (Flash Freeze) →“Freeze!”

The fire skill should simply be “BURNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN”

It would make a hilarious emote when the time calls.

haha that’s funny, when my friends and I were at a metal festival we were shouting “eye of the storm” non-stop on the campsite, it can work!

Some kind of arcane speech would be awesome, but eles don’t really feel like d&d wizards using the power of ancient magics with their knowledge… they totally feel like sorceress, harnessing their inner power to channel the elements in destructive ways. (Specially the tempest)

Still, I would love a more “wise-arcane” wizard class / specialization.

I’m fine with Feel the Burn personally.

Eye of the Storm and Aftershock as shouts feel a little weird, but I guess it will depend on how the character says them and if anything else is said with them. I’m not sure what else they could have called them given what they do.

Flash Freeze, I’m iffy on. Simply “Freeze” might have been sufficient, but again it will depend on how its said and what else is said (if anything).

Probably because it’s Donald Trump’s most-known phrase from ‘The Apprentice’ television show. It would be mildly amusing, especially with the number of inevitable jokes with him campaigning for president.

All they have to do is have them say it in Latin so that it sounds magicky:

Oh please, Kage bushin no jutsu.<- That’s from Naruto and it’s not english. It’s easy to remember if you make it memorable.

It’s more like a nice pun to use. A lot like killing someone with an ice themed spell and yelling “looks like somebody left the fridge open”. Lol that sort of thing

After watching the stream I really feel like if the Ele said “Ignatio!” for “Feel the burn!” I’d be more into it. As of right now though, I’m really not into it.

It doesn’t help that the voice actors sound incredibly bored when they read off the shouts.

It would be better if they spoke in a rising intonation for the first part of the shout and then said the second part with some impact. This applies to all classes that use shouts, especially the Reaper who is currently feeling very neglected and could really use a hug.

I figure it would make a lot more sense to make these “shouts” into meditations. The tempest seems to have a focus on concentration of power, and that’s what meditations are all about.

I honestly can’t think of any better names for the shouts, the entire idea seems forced and unwieldy, and the abilities themselves don’t really seem to fit in any builds (with the notable exception of the AoE stunbreaker).

I think it should be made of 2 short words max. “Wash the pain away!” is just too long!

Personally think each shout should have a generic name like Furnace Call or Tundra Voice and each race/gender would say somethink unique like the attunement swap lines.

That would also work as well. Right now though, the shouts just sound very cringe worthy.
