Glass Cannon.

I know that we seem underpowered and survivability is an issue in PVP, but considering our traits there must be a set of traits which would dictate being a glass cannon.

I have read most of everyones thoughts but of course they always differ and I was wondering whether there was a strict build which should dictate a glass cannon. Is there any maths which state, putting so many points in such traits will give max damage etc etc.

So what is the glass cannon build for PVE and PVP?

Same here, i’ve been looking for a glass cannon build for PvE. I would like to find one that deals as much damage as possible. Would appreciate it if anyone had any info. Thanks.

The most damage possible is actually very straight forward, 30 fire 30 air 10 earth with divinity or scholar runes. It does impressive damage. But…. Good luck surviving more than a handful of seconds in any meaningful battle.

Ele doesn’t have built in defense like thieves with stealth and on demand evades, and mesmers with their piles of utilities (stealth, invuln, more invuln, blink, confusion, most on low cd)

what prince said. if you spec glass cannon, a thief with the same spec will still deal much more damage and still be more survivable than you. glass cannon for ele is not the way to do things…

7, Earth #4, (Air #4), Air #2, 8, 9.
It deals about 10-15k+ damage in 1-2 seconds every 45 seconds but surviving between those hits will be hard.

I’ve been researching different glass cannon builds for the past two days, best burst I’ve had was with scepter/dagger, however it isn’t all that viable. You actually need to burst people down before they can react, if you don’t you’re more or less dead, don’t get me wrong I could get 150+ points easy blah blah blah, but in tournys there is no way that a GC build would be viable. I’d honestly say quit while you’re ahead, look into more sustained damage.

In the greater blob of things, there is only the zerg.

If RTL wasn’t so horribly bugged, the glass cannon build would work much better. But yeah, 30 fire/30 air/10 something is the way to go for max dps (although I wouldn’t recommend it for SPvP). For SPvP 20 fire/30 air, or even 10 fire/30 air gives you neat spike damage. Berserkers amulet has high power anyway. Arcane Blast and Arcane Wave is a MUST, as you otherwise wouldn’t be able to put opponents under pressure as much, or even directly combo kill (downed) them within five seconds or so.

I used this for a bit, then changed it to something with a tad more survivability, although you can kick some kitten with it in SPvP if your RTL works and you get your combo running smoothly. I keep switching between glass cannon and pure condition builds. The combo that yields the most success for me, and is easy enough to handle is this.

Single target:

Ride the Lightning (4), Updraft (5), – switch to fire quickly to apply Sunspot-, Burning Speed (3), Ring of Fire (4), Arcane Blast + Arcane Wave (to gain 3x might and +6% crit damage), then finish with Fire Grab (5).

Usually that takes out a healthy chunk of your opponents HP, or kills with enough crits. Fire Grab takes a wee bit of time to cast, though.

Multiple targets hit & run fun:

Churning Earth (5), Lightning Flash to the midst of them, Ring of Earth (2), Earthquake (4), -switch to fire applying Sunspot-, Ring of Fire (4), Arcane Wave, Burning Speed (5) to gain a bit of distance, -shift to air-, Ride the Lightning (4) to get away if you are being targeted (which you likely will be).
