Yep, my ele would keep the focus on hand for those moments in WvW when some defense was needed from trebuchets firing from nearly unreachable spots, so I’d do my share and do it well. But now, swirling winds will no longer stop trebs with this update for some weird reason. I can’t think of a good reason to even carry the focus any more. Anyone have any idea I’m missing or is it time to put Old Reliable on the shelf to collect dust?

Trebuchet hits blocking was an annoying feature. It made Elems grossly overpowered in structure fights. I spent last night nearly one hour with other Elems of my guild pretecting our Treb against another defended machine… it was boring as hell.

If you consider RTL, Cantrip and Cleansing Water nerf, I would bet my money on more /F Elems after next patch.

Patch note 19-07-2013:
To give more build and weapon options to Elementalist profession, since everone is now playing D/F
- obsidian flesh is now 10 minutes cooldown if used over 10% hitpoints
- you cannot use utility skills and heal while under magnetic wave
- swirling winds doesnt blocks projectiles in PvP
- flamewall now doesnt deal any damage… oh wait thats live already

I really don’t understand why swirling winds received that nerf. Tactical play in wvw who knew…

Anyway focus isn’t a bad wep set. More so with the RTL nerf.

Imo glassier ele builds are easier to utilize with a focus rather than offhand dagger. Couple that with an amazing potential for bunkering (I don’t know if this is true never bunkered with a focus but it seems like they would be good for bunkering.) Not to mention the incredible cc and damage mitigation everything outside fire 4 has its uses.

Still think it needs buffs but for the most part just as useful as offhand d

Flame wall its extremely usefull if u find … a usefull way to use it :P:P
I cast flame wall and then go earth→magnetic wave for the extra might,
after that stone shards to adding burning. Its nice combo although very situational,
and u have to blow the magnetic wave.

Comet fixed o wait nerfed.

Funny they are working on nerfing unused weapon.

Don’t have to put that stupid focus in my inventory anymore.
