Time to start the new meta for eles
When people talk about builds being dead they talk about it in an Spvp perspective. Spvp does not have the luxury of stat variability that wvw has and thus condi/signet builds sits in a much worse place.
Also very few of your opponents had condi clense in their builds, and those that did didnt use them properly. I dont believe your build wouldn’t cut it against good builds/players let alone be on the level of hybrid builds (celestial version of wvw)
Some well played fights in there. Enjoyed watching.
Meta for what though? Roaming? You’re so much slower than standard D/D. This build doesn’t even have perma swiftness. Can’t really roam if you can’t disengage.
I suppose it’s better in certain 1v1s, but the world of 1v1s is plagued with too much bullkitten to make it worth speccing for.
For 1v1s yeah it could be meta, and you are certainly right about it being slow. My aim is just for people to recognise condi ele and not slant it for being a sh#tty build, because it’s not, lol.

Even in ranked spvp I use this build and do extremely well as you’re able to 1v1 on points and sometimes 1v2. You would be surprised about how well this build does against good players and “good builds”.
I can see it being effective against someone expecting a standard celest and not worrying about the bleeds until its too late (as bleed isnt a huge threat on celest) But a good player even if caught off guard will notice that he died from condi meaning next fight hes going to watch for you signet and drakes breath, basically your two main sources of damage and avoid them, if they soak the hits the’ll be smart can clense it early. Good players know not to stand in fire.
In spvp what do you run because as an ele you cant really take condi damage amulet without being very vulnerable to either condi if you take a toughness amulet or burst if you take a vitality amulet. We just don’t have the base stats for it. It’s why we used to always take soldier until celestial finally came out. And it’s only gotten worse now that we cant pull tough/vit from our traits.
Also aren’t you just running the meta fire/water/arcane? your basically swapping sig of earth for LF not much of a “signet” build. The thing is is even your “signet” build is so close to the meta build its not a truely different build, honestly running celest with the same build in spvp is likely just as effective as a rabid/carrion if not more so. in which case i wouldnt really call your build any different from the meta other than you choosing a damage utility over a positioning utility and preference of focus over dagger, both of which are viable.
signet builds used to leave the standard water/arcane for other trees, but now everything is basically locked into water/arcane/x
I really do praise you for trying to break the meta but at the end of the day we just end up back in our water/arc celest cantrip corner…
I use the carrion amulet since I have around 2.2-3k armor already thanks to Signet of Earth and once that is used it wont go back to the original toughness value because Written in Stone is slotted.
Most of the good players I see in WvW would not get caught off-guard by me because by now they should know who I am as I’m like the only condi ele that actively roams in T1 EU.
I wouldn’t say those two are just my main sources of damage. I also use the Sigil of Geomancy which gives 3 stacks of bleed, so combine that with SoE you get 8. The other source of condition damage I have is when I drop my FGS (or use elite close to them) on an enemy which gives torment, poison and bleed thanks to the Krait runes.
I swap to the fire traits instead of earth from time to time, and yeah you are kinda right what you said about swapping LF and the meta stuff. If I ran celestial in pvp or wvw it wouldn’t have the same effect. It would be a more sh#ttier version of the build itself. Regarding the utilities I’m not always restricted to using the 2 cantrip ones. I use the earth and fire signet together with AoE against players that I think that wont dish out conditions as much as others would.
If you like would you want to see me fighting in pvp since the stats are different there?
Off-guard is what this shines at imo. I’ve fought them before and I died because I didn’t know what I was fighting.
The other day I came across a similar build signet of earth with focus offhand me and a friend where fighting 2 other people when the ele came and I thought it was honestly a Necro, but then I saw the burn and immob. The second time I ran into that Ele I could make it disengage every single time. I was on my mesmer I just sat in stealth launching phantasms making sure I had distance, and I run Arcane Thievery, which I often roam with on my mesmer even if I got hit with the signet and burns I just gave them back to the ele anyway.
Not saying everyone would fight it the same just my experience fighting a condi ele recently. I don’t really like condi ele’s much, because I have a Necro and Engi that do it much better or occasionally my thief or mesmer.
I don’t see it being meta which is usually referring to sPvP. Roaming “meta” is usually centered around as much mobility as possible, cleanses, and dealing with thieves. Looks like a 1v1 dueling build mostly I don’t see it replacing the preferred celestial direct damage build.

Condi ele meta? nice joke m8
Condi ele meta? nice joke m8
Typical d/d ele yh?
the main problem I see with condi ele for roaming is how slow you can be and how easy it is to be kited. They are more effective than traditional eles for sure though. I don’t play condi ele in wvw much because its almost as cheesy as condi pu mesmer.

Here’s the thing, as many people have said, condi ele is great the first time you fight someone because you will almost assuredly beat them through the advantage of surprise. However, after that initial fight any decent player will realize what you are running and will not let themselves be caught off guard again and you will have a significantly more difficult time beating them. Plus as has been said, the lack of mobility really drags it down, especially in WvW.
This build is in no way bad, and I applaud you for looking for new options instead of running cookie cutter builds.
It is not, however, even remotely close to a meta build. It does not have the mobility or reliability that a good WvW roamer needs. This build relies largely on the gimmick of surprise and once that is gone the only people you’re going to be winning against are people who do not play their class properly (as was evident in your video).

Prismatic Dream: Mesmer
Thanks for the feedback so far.

It’s great the first time, and every time. It’s true what you’re saying about decent players being caught off-guard, but the same cannot be said for the ones that are used to fighting a build like this. Could you still blame it on a surprising gimmick when they lose repeatedly?

That’s a rude thing to say, lol. I wouldn’t put condi ele on the same level as a PU mesmer or any other kinda class like perplexity necro. Classes like those are much worse, but can still be beaten by condi ele. It’s just underrated.

There are already enough kittenty players getting carried by cheesy builds, you are only promoting that.
I’m sorry that you fell victim to a build you couldn’t beat before.
Yeah I think your build is survivable 1v1 and arguably pretty good in that case, although in spvp 1v1s quickly turn into 2v1s 2v2s and more. I still dont think carrion is better than celest for your build (In spvp) i think celest + scavenge or krait runes if you wana go the krait route, you jsut dont squeeze enough condi out of it while throwing a lot of survival taking no toughness or + to healing.
I’ll play with it and give further feedback, but I don’t think it reaches the level of competitive, possibly reaches viable in certain team comps. (again only talking spvp, wvw I think it can be good)

Trust me on this when I say I’ve been editing this build since March last year. I’ve tried all the things you’re saying like celestial, scavenger runes and all types of other stuff, and this is what I’ve come up with in the end. You don’t even need healing power anymore tbh, and you with Written In Stone you have more than enough toughness thanks to the maintained passive effect of Signet of Earth so it wont lower in stat when used.
You say I have no survival, but it has plenty. You don’t have to go balls deep into earth and fire trees, and not use water. In my build I use Earth, Water, and Arcana and my reasoning for that is so I can 1v2 for a while till help arrives (talking about pvp since you like it).
I’m sorry that you fell victim to a build you couldn’t beat before.
I’m sorry for all the people who need builds like this to actually have a chance to kill something.
People are free to play whatever builds they like and if it’s effective then what is the problem
I am also not sorry for playing a tough condi ele.
I have fun playing it. Fights last long and i have a very hard time against high vit/condi cleanse, but it´s so funny to be that anoying ele running around and not going down.
Yesterday i had a 2:2. A friend, totally rooky, had his first real small scale fight with me.
He es using an easy to play might stacking fire/air/arcane staff ele in knights/soldiers.
I dashed into the two oponents blowing in firewall/dragon tooth/phönix and swaped into earth with stone heart. They both targeted me … and got blasted.
I don´t care that i constantly loose to necros, have hard fights to condi/hybrid builds and can´t bring down bunker builds. I endure long and i destroy most zerkers. Its like a rock/paper/scissors system. And thats great.
too many broski haters but you can’t blame them, they lose to something 1vs1 and call it cheese or unviable in ‘high level play’. . . whatever that means.
previously rank 2 on old leaderboards

I’ve played d/f condition ele for a while in wvw to test it out. It’s super easy to play, super cheesy and has a low skill floor. IMHO it’s nothing to stick to for more than a couple of days while there is celestial d/d which I find much more challenging, versatile and fun to play. Experienced players will immediately notice your signets and dodge them as well as removing burning and then you’re basically out of options.
It is a viable option. I used to run it hardcore 2 years ago. going EWA I was tanking 2 condi mesmers for about 5 minutes last week. It;s weakness is that it is easily kiteable and securing downs can be difficult since you can’t burst ressers. You will see condi builds shine greatly when you do group roaming since your higher healing will support allies.
