4 ele team ftw in tPvP. Laughing all the way to win.

I don’t think eles are weak but that pic doesn’t really tell us anything.

So in the casual player section of the game, some ele’s won one fight…

Ok I guess that is worth posting after all the nerfs. Most classes expect to win a fight once in a while though…

That is nice and all, but can we see the ranks of the other players at least? A team of top players could play any classes and stomp a team of noobs. Taken out of context, this isn’t all that helpful.

Also, ranks are not necessarily a measure of skill, but they do allow some degree of estimation.

mmm ranks mean nothing tbh.. i can easily.. go into hotjoin games.. do my own thing.. and come out with alot of glory.. and rank up easily.. thats all ranking is.. trust me when i tell u it means absolutely nothing.. its nothing but the accumulated glory you have.. ive seen countless. new tpvp and spvp players who go in there with rank 1.. and just wreck other higher ranking players…

All that shows is you can take Screenshots. Good job.

I like how everyone says that ele’s are fine and shows pvp stuff. Great! We have a good mobility! How does that help me against a boss in a dungeon?

I think it’s pretty ridiculous to balance pvp and pve simultaneously.

The thing is, eles are in a bad place in pvp currently. You can find some eles at lower levels where teams don’t play as well together or where skill levels are vastly different. However, at the upper tiers, eles and mesmers are non-existent b/c we don’t bring anything to the table in the condi-meta that dominates. You either go D/D semi-bunker, in which case you might as well play another class (guardian, ranger, necro, even warrior), or you go S/D cheese burst, in which case you might as well play thief and have more survivability via evades/stealth and team support with shadow refuge.

Until they fix Necro marks, Eles will still be useful for condi removal. Mesmers also have that portal thingy that coordinated zergs love to jump through.

Arenanet doesn’t like elementalist or don’t know what the hell to do with them. I think we should just accept it and move on.

Didn’t Car Crash bring an Ele to the PAX prelims? They may not be the best, but I would certainly consider them to be “at the upper tiers”…..

On the other hand, Thief doesnt bring buffs, AoE dmg/CC/heals/cleanses, so its not like the Thief is better at everything.

I think what he meant was Ele can be specced into whatever role you want, but there will always be another class that can do it better

He explained very well. You want a glass burst player? Go S/D thief. Very glassy yet still has high survivability because they can go perma stealth, unlike a glass S/D ele that can burst pretty good but doesn’t have much tools to escape when focused by the other team since most of our skills and cantrips have very long CD.

Even glass GS/Sword+Pitol Mesmers has better survivability than S/D Ele because they can just drop P.Zerker> P.Gunner > Illusionarry Leap + Swap > Blurried Frenzy > pop decoy or blink + stealth if you’re taking too much damage after B.Frenzy. Even more, they can just drop P.Gunner and P.Zerker and kite people 1200 range away using GS. If people focus them, pop invisibility.

In the end, Eles are what Anet described. Good at everything, but some other class will always be better than it.

The point is, you are comparing Eles to other classes doing one (or two at best) things better (burst, survivability, etc.). The only other class that can have decent survivability, great AoE dmg, great AoE CC, good AoE support (heals, cleanses for Ele, Smoke Bomb, Thrown Elixir R for Engi) , decent single target dmg, high mobility at the same time is the Engineer.

The difference between the two is the Ele is burst focused (= Power), where the Engi is condition focused.

My point is, what if I dont want best burst class, because I already have a Thief in my team? Sure, I could bring another one, but that reduces versatility of the team.
What if I want little bit more anti-condition, but dont want to bring another Necro, because it is not good at roaming?
What if I want a class that can adapt and fill most roles relatively well? Being good at everything, but not best at any one thing may be a disadvantage, but it can also be an advantage.

There is really a time where being mediocre at everything is actually a good thing. Being good at 2 things is generally better than being bad at 4 things. The benefit the ele might offer can easily be neglected due to their poor class mechanics and skills.

Because you picture doesn’t say anything. There is no context or any information about the opposition or the time it was taken.

It’s like taking a blurry picture of something as proof that big foot is real.

Another possibility is the team your fought against was bad.

You picture is pretty much worthless in any real discussion.

Finally, the discussion isn’t that you cant win with an elementalist is that it they don’t offer a lot in a team setting that other classes don’t provide in a more efficient manner.

The picture doesn’t solve the big question: Why should I take an elementalist jack of all trades for any of the supposedly 3 big roles over a more specialize and effect class?

Best case he probably sync queue with his friends and intentionally lost or they were on a custom arena and he made his friends lost so he could take a picture.

looking at his post history he is probably a thief player.

Spvp means nothing. Everything is relatively balanced there. This proves nothing. It doesn’t change the fact that eles are weak in all other areas of the game. When eles become the most wanted party members in a dungeon, then we’ll be ok. But that position belongs to warriors and guardians now. It’s all well and good for the small % of people who play spvp, but all the complaints of ele’s weakness come from a PvE/WvW perspectinve. The fact of the matter is, the majority of ele players are not happy with where the class is right now.
