Guild Wars 2

I used to be able to tank 3-5 guys no problem even with thieves around with staff, and would oftentimes 1v1 for over a minute with pretty even wins in spvp. Now I can barely hold against one competent player in fights that last under 10 seconds. I don’t know all the changes that’s happened and Anet can disagree but we definitely are much less powerful than before. I’m watching thieves gib players around all over the place, offensive guardians destroying 2 players at once with ease, warriors surviving better than ever, necros actually doing good damage, while I have to do twice the work for subpar performance. And now they move some key survival traits further down our trees?! Does any dev play this class?

its very frustrating. My advice is run. run from this game and don’t look back. Or else. Or else it will suck you in too.

They buffed every single class but they didn’t give Ele anything to counter those changes. They just made it even harder to play Ele than it was before.

Pretty much this, 30 arcana is still a must if you wanna have any survivability what so ever and they nerfed water by removing our only condi removal to the master tier. In the end you could say we got a nerf while other classes got buffed.

Well, don’t forget the destruction of our mobility, nerf of our heals in PvP (and some general heal nerfs also) and Evasive arcana nerf on top of that.

Cleansing Wave and Elemental Attunement in Master traitline , this kittened it up for me, sadly.

It is very frustrating. I love playing ele, and I’ve played the same character for over a year now and I think I’ve got pretty good at is. I bought a many-button mouse especially to play ele properly. I had high hopes for this patch, but now I’m seriously thinking of switching to another high-skill character (spam-1/2 characters bore me). The only one that comes to mind is Engineer.
I do like the idea of ranger, but I think I may get bored of that fairly quick.

Sad but I may abandon for mesmer here soon. Its so much easier to win.

You somehow wrote what I’m thinking of, already have my Engi on lvl 78 and it’s really fun so far, however it’s not Ele, so I guess I’ll never leave my main abandonded, like I did with the warrior shortly after got to lvl 80 and to my Thief which I mained a while actually.

Mesmer.. that’s another possibility. Daft as it sounds after a year with my ele I feel bad abandoning her for another character, but there’s only so long you can stick it out. I’ll perhaps try playing with some more builds first, but even after playing ranger for a bit in PvP to try it out with just the default build I instantly felt so much more survivable.

I just don’t get it. Warrior has heavy armor and therefore higher base stats. Ele has light armor, therefore lower base stats. They are the “pros”. Surely the “cons” should be heavy armor: slower, less agility and light armor: more squishy. Well, they got 1 of the “cons” in…

Yeah there’s zero realistic consequences in this game. Zergs move around with ease (No spacial limit on players, IE They can’t bump into each other) small groups are destroyed by big groups with lesser tactics, heavy armor classes do everything a light armor class could do and more.

Saddness has hit me again. Seems it does every time an imbalance patch comes around.

I have mesmer on lvl 57, but the Engi is somewhat much more fun to me, so that’s why I decided to level him up first

My 2nd main was an Engineer :P I made mesmer first but I have barely played her since november last year. I really love the whole idea and concept of the engineers but everytime I pick up the class again, I get bored. :S .. Starting to miss my ele as usual.

Why o why do we have to take all those nerfs over and over.

IMO Engineer is the best class for Ele’s who are just sick and tired and want to experience something new…something powerful with enough breathing room with solid base stats and good design. You still get to mash lots of buttons (hello kit-swapping), it’s not something braindead like Warrior or Guardian.

As Engi you have access to various tanky builds, condi builds, glass/power builds, etc. If you get bored of grenades you can try bombs, if you get bored of that you can take out the rifle or flamethrower. People who haven’t actually played Engi tend to say “sounds gimmicky” except that all those gimmicks are incredibly functional and can work together very well.

In fact I would say Elementalist is twice as “gimmicky” as Engineer because I consider attunement cooldowns to be the most silly thing in the game.

Yea I tried an engineer with flamethrower and had a blast even with a subpar build I came up within an hour. And I know there are other viable builds centered around different playstyles – tanky, turrets, bombs, grenades, cc, condition/power. And I’m itching to try mesmer again after abandoning it due to being easymode back then. I already tried warrior and thief and it’s just so much easier and more fun to do things. But I still come back to my ele for the staff AOE lol.. I guess that’s the only good thing I can do now, throw fields and watch groups blow up occasionally.

Mesmer is still easy mode. Even with a full zerk build I still usually die last in PVE Dungeons and Fractals when things go sour. I don’t do as much AOE damage as my Ele in WvW but I’m such a royal PITA especially for people manning arrow carts on top of the battlements. The only problem I really have with Mesmer is they walk so slowly.
