Believe me when I say that I like watching videos of highly skilled players dominating with the Elementalist, but there is a thought I try to ignore that stays in mind. It is one thing to show select times of domination, <cough> especially against <cough> low tier nobodies. There is an underlying lack of credibility to every ele vid I have watched. I want to see awesome ele vids of WvW action against tier 1 servers, and not against an off group of uplevels on those servers. Does anyone have October, 2013, video of ele domination against reputable guilds in WvW Tier 1 servers? Anyone? Beuller?

Consider individual skill tends to be inversely proportional to server tier, I don’t know what you are expecting, unless you’re saying you want to see videos of eles in blobs fighting blobs.

Most people show videos of just their highlights. Truly good fights are ones that last 5 minutes or more.

Wait wait wait, what does a tier 1 fight mean? Tier 1 is about skill? Are u really saying that? We just had Vizuna on our matchup and the only thing they were able to do is to stick to commanders and blob every border. You are lacking credibility man.

Top tier servers have a higher WvW population, therefore there is a higher chance to encounter enemies of all types and numbers. U may say that those players fight and practice more. That’s my logic. Really I don’t know what base have sentences like “individual skill tends to be inversely proportional to server tier”.

In my experience higher tier players tend to suck outside of their blobs… Not to mention tier means nothing when it comes to player skill, it just tells you how good the server is at tactics and zergling herding

Im not exactly a good ele. Maybe even a bad ele. Eitherway, i made 2 vids in the near past while in wvw. I often forgot to turn on fraps though, so afterwards i sorta just pasted it together of all i recorded that day. Like i said, im still learning, which is the main reason i recorded myself, still in a learning process so dont expect too much skillwise.

So for those who wanted to see tier 1 vids, here you go….

“Higher tier” players tend to be specced for very large group fights, because those are the norm in the higher tiers (and that is because the game is designed to encourage that, but that’s a different point). These specs tend to be suboptimal for small-group/solo fights.

The only way the “tier” or server can have an effect on player skill is as a result of the kind of fight that tier or server tends to be engaged in. If the majority of fights are smaller scale then the server might produce more experienced and hence better roamers. If the majority of fights are large-scale then the server will probably be better at that type of combat.

Each time some l33t roamer catches a “zergling” off-guard and laughs at the poor guy running away/doing badly in a fight, think about what will happen if you threw 30 of those l33t roamers against a 30-man zerg guild.

Tier 1 servers have the worst players. Zerging leads to mindless spamming and an utter lack of real skill. Everyone who plays on a tier 1 server is an easy kill when caught without their zergs.

Oh man i know, my friends have heard me insult zerglings A LOT, but i ALWAYS respect the zerglings we fight against in WvW because when it comes to ZvZ they are really good at knowing when to CC, when to not overly CC etc.

I just find it funny how people seem to think “Oh i’m Tier 1!!” means that you’re going to be some godly PvPer because your server is good at ZvZ warfare (granted i’m not about to get 30 of my closest friends together to have a zerg brawl with you, that’d be horrible lol)

What you said speaks to me in a deep way. It reminds me of my time in Aion, all the l33t roamers had +10 External PvP gear, most of us in my PvPvE guild (but mainly PvE) had 10 PvE gear (obviously PvP gear is better for PvP), but we were organize and efficient, we started with 23 vs their 50 and eventually our sizes increase but we still had half of their numbers and we PvP’d over a world boss for nearly 8 hours. and we were destroying them.

All of these while not relevant to the discussion at hand still is awesome and brings back memories.
