I don’t like scepter because you provide exactly 0 pressure in melee. with dagger you can lightning whip or burning speed or something. a lot of strong melee skills. and staff you can at least drop AoEs under yourself. but with scepter, if someone gets in your face, you can’t do much of anything. Well you can drop a point blank phoenix that hits hard if you land it just right, but you only get one shot.

Scepter is not the best when going again melee enemies but tempest give you an option. Overloads help when dealing with melee pressure and lightning overload can easily deal with thieves that rely on stealth. You can lighting strike while overloading.

Tried to look up a dps comparison but seems like no one has tested out scepter tempest builds much. Tested it a bit with lightning strikes Air scepter AA does 50% less dps than dagger. Assuming you can stay in melee 100% of the time. Scepter can lightning strike(air 2) while overloading which closes the gap by ~25% and hits through targets still its less AA cleave dmg than dagger. Dragon tooth and phoenix hits 50% harder than burning speed but its harder to hit with. Working with a lightning overload build.

Okay, I tried sharing my best kept secret. Playing with scepter is really all about forcing enemies to chase you. Id rather be able to hit enemies from 900 range for mediocre damage than have to chase them/fall into traps or overextend for mediocre damage.

I also prefer scepter over dagger. In melee i have overload to scare someone off. With scepter i can also fight from range and this helps alot to spread your team and not eating all the AOE. I go close if needed (wash the pain away) or the oportunity is good for an overload ride. But i also use sage often and this makes a diffrence too.
And yep its about forcing oponents to case you. You still heal your team from range.
And with sage i do significant damage. Ignoring that dragon tooth is painful because it burns hard.

One less but that is the best aura. And it is on 25sec CD, and you dont have way to gain it if not to air overload, that usually is the One get interrupted the most, or using rebound into air

Oh come on people… dragon thoot, Phoenix, and air 2 can be facetanked without problem if you are running tanky amulet. The only thing worth about use scepter in a supportive build is water 3. For everything else Dagger is better.
Metà cleric build doesnt offer nice damage with Dagger, with scepter is laughable

Its mostly has some advantages with bunkering points IMO. I can just kite around the point staying out of melee range. Yea the damage is pitiful, but the damage from dagger is pretty pitiful too. Its just a preference really.

Scepter just doesn’t work on meta cleric ele because you give up:
- Shocking aura, which is very important for peeling your team-mates
- An extra aoe projectile block to help team (earth 2)
- A 2s immob to help your team set up spikes
- A leap to go with your fire fields for an extra aura (more healing)
- Weakness from lightning touch
- An evade from burning speed (hard mitigation!)
- A chill (soft cc) in water

What you get is:
- 1 more blast
- A little bit of cc
- A negligible amount of toughness
- A couple single-target blinds

Since you are pure support, damage isn’t really a major consideration in either way (although dagger does more damage b/c it cleaves). What matters is your support, and main-hand dagger offers SO MUCH more support (more auras to heal + cleanse, incl. shocking aura to help a team-mate peel), cc to set up team spikes, and extra defense.

Maybe if you run mender’s to play more dps-ish, I could understand the argument for scepter, but with cleric you just get worse at your primary function while gaining so little. Even if you can’t get into melee with dagger to do damage, it doesn’t really matter. Just standing on top of your team-mates and using your supporting skills ends up doing more for the team than scepter does.

Agree. Clerics does not work well with scepter. Going scepter need a damage role and clerics is not usful here. Menders or sage works better.
