I can’t find anything to replace the stun breaker on Cleansing Fire. I play PvE with my staff ele, and run her with my husband’s necro. They make a pretty good pair; not our best, but she is half-way decent.

But Cleansing Fire is key to her build. With the Cantrip trait, it gives her 3 stacks of Might. It does decent AoE buring. It removes 3 conditions. And it broke Stun. This was her only stun removal.

To keep the 3 stacks of Might, I would have to use a different Cantrip, but I don’t see any as good as Cleansing Fire, with or without Break Stun. And if I change to a Glyph, I don’t get the Might from Cantrips.

As some have said in this thread, I guess I’ll run without a stun breaker. Pretty sure that ’s not gonna be pretty.

I could live with reducing the number of conditions it removes easier than taking away the Break Stun.

Try Arcane Shield (now a stun breaker) + Ether Renewal? Gets you the same effect as the old Cleansing Fire along with brief invulnerability, though without the AoE burn.

Obviously the changes to Phoenix and Tempest defense are great.

So they want us to take GoEP….but not use it until CCed???? I thought it was a buff you wanted up all the time?!

Why no boost to Dragon’s tooth speed or Glyph of Storms?

I can’t help but thinking they’re waiting to see how WvW and sPVP handle these changes before adding extras, I doubt they’re done with ele’s just yet.

Trying to make us swap Lightning Flash for anything else…..it’s turned LF into an offensive skill for D/D but destroyed Staff/Scepter/Focus’ ability to get away from melee burst?…

With Fresh Air, what do you guys use it for?
Who actually needs to get back into lightning any quicker? I know if I use focus going back to lightning won’t make Gale come back any quicker.

Just run LF+CF and enjoy the lower cds. LF still allows you to teleport to safety even though it doesn’t break the stun.

In situations where you need better escapability, just swap in AS for CF.

It appears that what I was missing was the trait Pyromancer’s Puissance, which gives Might on each Fire spell. I use Frost Bow a bit, so I’ll just to have switch back and forth more often. That should work with AS.

(I think I tested PP awhile back, and thought it wasn’t working, but noticed tonight in the Wiki that you have to be in combat, and I may have tested on a dummy, not a live target.)

Yup, that’s what I did.

Bit of a shame that the best thing I can get is Bolt to the heart… I wish I could get the air cooldown reduction instead.

It’s really not a big deal, I used Lightning Flash mostly for escapes or offensive combos like in mid Burning Speed, Earthquake, and Churning Earth. Why would you waste it on just a stun breaker when you have two other cantrips that can do just that?

As for the other changes, I run 30 air, and rely on crit for damage, so the recharge air attunement on crit is amazing, and works so well with the new scepter changes. Scepter/Dagger is actually viable in WvW now, and the change with Lightning Flash works really well when it crits with over 2k damage. It’s a step in the right direction.

That weakness buff paired with that signet nerf is the worst thing happened to us in this patch..On the bright side with goep we get pretty good weakness uptime too but that wont mean kitten when the meta undoubtly shifts in condie builds with great weakness uptime everywhere..
Also fresh air is an amazing trait for giving you the option to rotate attunements effectively even with 30 in arcana..But the low base survaivability makes the loss of the extra heal show up huge time.
Lastly engies got a pre nerf rtl (likre pre pre pre nerf rtl where it could jump through gaps to the other side of the world)..makes me so jealous

So I see my favourite cantrips took trip to a can. How awesome is that and how ironic?
I need to watch Anet more closly, because as I understood, they didn’t want to touch (much) existing builds and focus on things that were useless anyway. And I had to missunderstood this part, because what I see (apart from quickie staff love) is breaking things that works well, to spoil a bit things that didn’t had much sense before, nor do they have now (GoEP, rally?!). Now instead 1 working skill and 1 usless, I see 2 useless.
Great that Arcane Shield got some love (unneeded) – it will work up a bit for breaking Cleansing Fire and Lightning Flash.

As an ele main I am glad cantrips got nerfed. 2-3(usually 3) cantrips being the best in almost every situation was really boring. This opens up more viable utility options and makes the game more fun. Arcane shield is incredible now that it stun breaks, and it crits for a lot of damage when it explodes.
