Hello lads , i have a question and need to get it off my chest.

When i got 80, i crafted my Valkyrie exotic set right away, and i had a awsome set of dps, had 5-6k crit when attuned to fire.

I then thought “well if this is with vit gear i wonder how much more dps i could get out of my crits” so well i slowly started to change and now im allmost in a full precision gear and i get way worse dps, allmost constantly 1-3k dps and NEVER over 4k.

so my question is if anyone else have taken notice of anything like this or is it just me?

Well il start with saying that my first expl was obviosly falling short.

When i ment that i switched gear to Preci i ment that i removed all the gear that gave “vit” in my Valkyrie set and switched it to precision, so by that i mean = no more vit , only prec.

I i have the same power/crit build i had before, just that instead of vit i switched it to prec

Damage-wise, valkyrie increases your direct damage (power) and makes your crits bigger.

Precision increases your chance to critically hit.

By the sound of it, you dropped all power.

what do you mean with precision gear? berserk gear? or any other set that give u precisione but not power AND crit dmg?

precisione only increase your crit chance… the big number u see are due to power (that increase the base dmg of the skill) and the crit dmg (that multiply that base value on crit)… if u have 90% crit chance but only the base 50% crit dmg u will never see high crit… lot of them for shure but not that much high…

berserk give u exactly the same amount of power and crit dmg of the valkiry… and simply switch the vitality with precision so u will have the same max and min dmg of valkiry but with higher cance of crit and so highest chance to see those bg numbers…

rampager instead gives u more precision (so more crit chance) but less power and absolutely no crit dmg… so while u will score more crit with rampager than with berserk your highest (due to the lack of crit dmg) and min (due to the reduced power) dmg will be lower than with valkiry

Well that is what i was hoping. So why do i get less “high” crits then i did before when i had my vit set? I have never gone down in power, just changed vit to prec

How long have you had the second set for? How long have you been checking the numbers on the second Set? It might just be that you played longer with the vitality set, so over a larger span of time received bigger crits, and that is all you are remembering, and the beserkers maybe hasn’t gotten as lucky with the RNG yet therefore you onl remembering smaller crits?

If you switched from Valkyrie to Berserker, you should be seeing the same damage with more frequent crits.

If you’re seeing less damage, then there’s an outside factor at work. Check your build, the level and rarity of your gear, and the upgrades socketed into your gear. If you still have your old gear, equip it and check your stat totals, then switch to the new gear and compare stat totals.

Beyond that, ensure you’re fighting the same enemies in the same area. You could also see a change in numbers if you had allies stacking vulnerability on your target or might on you.

Interesting findings… I think the only question not asked is whether you use Maintenance Oil which provides power based on your Vitality and Toughness.

Keep in mind when choosing between Valkyrie and Berserker’s: we can shave off a few precision in favour of vitality without compromising our damage output. Hell, you can even trait high into Water without compromising yourself much. The Fury boon comes fairly easily to Elementalists, so missing crits are easy to cover for.
