[Vid] Spvp: With some questions.
Few quick tips before I gotta go:
Having tested quite a few, how I would list recording programs: Dxtory > Bandicam > Playclaw > Fraps – MSI Afterburner is in there somewhere close to Bandicam. Dxtory requires quite a bit of fiddling, but it’s very powerful. Here’s a good guide: http://www.thecgl.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=178
1: Include the finishing moves if it’s not obvious that you would easily win.
2: I would prefer seeing proper opponents and proper teamplay. A ‘frag compilation’ is boring and does not interest me.
3: Either or, just make sure it’s valuable footage. I would much prefer a slower paced video with strategy/good play/good fights than a ramped up video showing a bunch of quick frags on terrible players. Voice comms are also great.
I think WvW movies are more fun, but the solo Elementalist stuff has been mostly played out by now. I recently did a GvG video of Red Guard vs Vengeance Of The Fallen (VoTF) which was pretty decent – anything group/guild play is very fun to watch and not outdone yet. Bonus if it’s objective-based (ie. you’re holding a Tower or a Keep, or ninja’ing it in a fashion which also gives you a hard fight).
NOTE: The only issue with Dxtory & x264vfw is that YouTube doesn’t like that format too much, which makes the video a little bit smushed. I haven’t had quality complainst, but my 1080p could be a lot crisper. If you find another good Dxtory guide, then feel free to share it.

Thanks Intigo
I’ll start breaking into the ol’ google research, really interested in Dxtory, saw your videos and mmmm that clear picture is great.
After googling: I found a more in-depth dxtory/x264 codec guide.
Getting a great picture without fps spikes and amazing file size. (720p = 110mb/min something around those lines)
Don’t think ill go too crazy and put it up to 1080p because personally I never load videos on youtube above 720p. Also with this picture quality I really don’t see the point lol.
Would highly recommend other people to give this a shot.

Any time!
I’m going to keep looking around for decent settings for Dxtory that allow me to capture at a decent size ratio without suffering (slight) quality loss when uploading to YouTube.
http://thenightcrowtribe.com/index.php?topic=463.0 seems promising, but Lagarith Lossless takes up way too much space for my puny little HDD.

Hey guys, I just got dxtory and followed the guide for the x264 codec setup. I’m trying to record at 1080p and it works fine in every other game, but as soon as I press record in GW2, my video driver crashes, or my system reboots.
Any thoughts? I’ve tried using several versions of the software with no luck. Same issues.
Can you give give your versions and configs ?

Are you using the new ATI/AMD Beta Driver? Apparently there’s some issues with it.
