[Video] Ele is missing something
1. That is not a DPS build lol
2. The warrior is most likely running healing power, probably clerics, based on his damage to you and the amount he’s healing.
3. Healing signet is stupid.
4. Honestly, you miss half your attacks and the ones that do hit aren’t bursty.
Also, if you’re mixing zerk/valk gear with PTV, you can optimize your stats a little better by using zerk weapons with some pieces of PTV armor and other min/max things.

(mild disclaimer: Attempting constructive criticism, not kittening, but not great at wording. Please don’t take anything as offense-intended. <3)
You’ve got cleric’s gear on… this isn’t a particularly high DPS build to start with, but there are bigger issues here.
That fight really isn’t a good demonstration of the strength/weakness of the ele (or your build, I guess) at all. It wasn’t an OP build or profession that let him do that to you, it was you missing almost every single skill you cast, without him even needing to dodge.
Landing your attacks (Burning Speed especially), you really, really need to practice with. This isn’t coming from a ‘high and mighty’ queen of arrogance, for the record. I’ve spent an absurd amount of time on ele but I’m only just coming back to it after a few months without even touching it. I will be the first to say I’m probably not in a great shape with it myself, either. :p
Semi-random little things that come to mind from the video:
- You’re not a melee range fighter, try to avoid standing toe-to-toe with a warrior. That extra little bit of range can make it much easier to see attacks coming and dodge them. It is significant.
- Learn just how far burning speed moves you, hell practice on every passing bunny if you need to. Even if it means ‘wasting’ a dodge to quickly get into position to land a burst, it can sometimes be worth it.
If you’re not going to land the hit at the end of the charge, and you don’t need the change in positioning (or a fire field >_>), don’t cast it. If you’re not 99% sure you’ll land the hit (assuming your target doesn’t dodge/etc), then practice more. ^^
- Personally, I’d change from signet of restoration, at least temporarily. It encourages you to spam skills mindlessly a bit too much (you could always spam auto-attacks whenever you have an opportunity, don’t need to actually land an attack to get the heal and it’s better than wasting a cooldown ^^). It’s not a bad heal, by any means, but it can get you into bad habits.
Ether Renewal can be awkward to get used to, it’s a different style for sure, but after something like 1,000 hours with signet of restoration, I was converted to ER. When casting speed isn’t directly linked to your healing, you tend to think a little more carefully about what you’re doing. Even if you do end up sticking with the signet, viewing your skills less like little heals and more for their real worth is a good lesson to learn.
I’m pretty sure I’m rambling by this point, and I’m sleepy, so I’m going to stop.
I guess, tl;dr:
Work on your camera control, movement, and ability to land skills on moving targets. Don’t get frustrated, ele isn’t nearly as bad as it might feel right now. Just keep at it, and keep improving. ^^

+1
So very true and put a lot more eloquently than I could.
I love ether renewal, but you need to be cautious about using it against opponents with a lot of interrupts as it can ruin almost all of the healing.

I would like to agree with the things said here. It is crucial to land your fire burst (fire 3, get a burn, land fire 5) against warrs with healing signet. Drake’s breath helps too. You also NEED to dodge their stuns (not that this is easy given the number).
Two options would help here:
1. Take at least 15 points in air: the extra dps is really helpful here
2. Take 20 points in earth for rock solid (it helps break out of stun-chains).
Also, aura-share doesn’t help you at all if you want to fight solo. I would recommend one of 2 builds:
0/15/10/15/30 for more dps

0/0/20/20/30 for a little more tankiness and stability (in aoe, which is one of our best traits):

Notice that boon-duration runes are best in 2’s, and the 3 runes of the soldier you have aren’t doing you much. Superior rune of the hoelbrak is also good on an ele with all of the might-stacking we can do, if boon-duration runes are too expensive. However, I would probably take 2 sup water, 2 major traveler, 2 major water if you want to go cheap and don’t feel like dungeon-running.
All that said, ele could use more auto-attack damage outside of air, and warriors have way too much sustain with healing signet + adrenal health + unreasonable # of stuns.
Thank you for your replies, now I see why I didn’t hurt him. I’ll practice more

Man, I’m sorry to say that the problem in this case is not the class. U are missing core parts of a d/d play style:
U don’t hit ur combos, ele has hard combos and u need practice with them.
U don’t stack might, ele d/d dps comes up when u get 20 might stacks, and this is one reason why u go 75% boon duration. Sigil of Battle is a must. No might stacks = no damage.
About ur build, it’s totally wrong, this is not a dps build, u are not optimizing ur gear. Remove critical damage from armor and move it to jewelry, maybe get some celestial.
Those are the critical parts. Elementalist is way more complex in build, playstyle and combos. That’s why it’s hard to have a constructive balance talk about ele, ele has problems, but most of the QQ comes from players that don’t know the class
I suggest u to visit my channel, u will find different kind of d/d gameplay and builds, cya

That warrior is really really really really bad. Doesn’t do a thing without Skullcrack
A few suggestions, hope it helps
1. Not enough damage. Grab a sigil of doom if healing signet is the problem, it’ll help alot.
2. Drop the healing power and pick up zerker for your ammys 2x cavaliar for rings if needed
3. Drop your runes (not sure why you go 3 water 3 soldier) and get boon duration/scholar/ruby/ogre/divinity or anything dps worthy.
4. Go 0/20/0/20/30
5. Get Knights with a mix of Valkyrie/zerker gear
6. Save aura, armour of earth when he switches to mace and nuke when he goes gs.
7. Maybe Arcane wave/blast instead of mistform. Damage is crucial
7. Change elite
you almost never used dagger earth 3 on him?
previously rank 2 on old leaderboards

Sigil of Doom won’t help since most warriors run Hoelbrak runes.
I just watched your video I also have a warrior and I sometimes run the mace/shield + GS build so sometimes it helps to give advice from that perspective.
A fight against a d/d ele the warrior(one that has at least some knowledge on ele) wants to force you to blow your cantrips. That’s pretty much all the warrior wants you to do because then you either disengage or he can lock you down with a skullcrack 100blades combo.
The DPS in the mace build 9/10 is when you are stunned alot of Warriors drop crit rate to around 30% because they have a trait that gives +50% critical chance when you are stunned.
So it would be 30% critical chance + signet of rage’s fury 20% + a stun 50% = 100% chance to crit while you are stunned. With sigil of paralyzation on Mace(sigil getting fixed on the 15th of Oct) full adrenaline will give the warrior a 4 second stun and all crits.
Most warrior put cav or valks gear on or a mix to get high crit damage and rely on the stun and fury from signet of Rage. That is basically how the build works. The stun is also on a 6.75 second cd(cant remember exactly since I only go 20 points into discipline).
When greatsword is out there really isn’t alot of damage to fear as long as you aren’t stunned. It is mostly used to stall/close gap/bait dodges. The real damage is mace/shield.
That is how the build works. From your side like someone said move your critical damage to your trinkets. I wouldn’t run clerics anything.
One of the most important things to do in that fight is to keep burning uptime as much as possible most people don’t pay attention to ele’s burns but when you get your might stacks up and your ticking 500+ per second you are counteracting the healing signet the base heal per second is 392 usually 20-30 points in defense so it is around 400-410 per second that is not counting adrenal health so the burns are really important to keep on the warrior especially since you can’t go toe to with the warrior.

You don’t use right build, all you gotta do is press 5 second cd skill
