[Video] New S/D build WvW showcase footage
Hi guys, with this patch we have new builds open, I’m so excited that I want to share with you my very first runs. Bursty S/D with Fresh Air. My performance is far from my DD, mistakes, misclicks, forgotten consumables and so on. Hope you enjoy anyway!
Build is 0 30 0 20 20 glyph oriented with balanced gear, it’s subject to change everyday so I will share more informations when I have a stable one. Thank you guys!
Good gameplay. With a bit more burst, you can have a lot more pressure on your opponents, down enemes much faster thus preventing more major dmg towards your teammates and a chance to keep downing more while one or more are trying to heal the downed enemy back up. Also, try to use FGS elite instead of the elemental. Not only it serves as the best escape from zerg mechanism we ele have atm but it is also an awesome single, aeo damage elite specially in scenariors like you were in this video. Finally, don’t only use lightning flash as an escape utility, try to use it for burst combos rotations if there’s an opening. Remember Lf also deals damage and with a good burst s/d build it can deal from 2-5k of dmg. You would be so much better off with 0-10-0-30-30. Fresh Air is not worth 30 points.

About FGS, I’m gonna give it a try in next tests. LF I know it has good damage and sometimes I use it as offensive utility, I love to combo it with firegrab: auto attack with fire for burning + start casting firegrab and LF on the target; or with classic churning earth combo… But I need to be more careful because if in a bad spot, I don’t have same survivability as DD, already happened to die for an offensive lf.

Elite glyph is good if you are against a few enemies and you have to defend a small area like a supply camp. The extra effects from the elementals can really turn the tide of the battle in your favor.
FGS is better for roaming to escape and it is good against siege camps or to get the back lines. Like Bay’s lord room. You can get to the back where the siege are easily with LF + FGS 3 then you can use untargeted FGS 4 and FGS 3 and most likely you’ll kill whoever is on the siege. This really helps your team. The same concept works for small choke points in a zerg v zerg fight.
looks like fire elemental is now more effective, has a new cripple effect and a little range
This spec looks fun to play, and going to be using my elementalist I’m leveling as a small group roamer. Does this also include the ability to do well during tower/keep sieges as well with the scepter/dagger setup, or will swapping out to a staff during those times still be effective? Any plans to post your actual spec so I can take a look at it? Figure it’ll help to get used to this build while I do some leveling out in WvW with my guild.
I didn’t test on sieges, but I think staff is superior.

You would be right….if he wasn’t using S/D…Scepter air main hand skills hit hard and have low cd and the trait itself synergyzes with crits. You can’t get damage anywhere near that with 0-10-30-30.
