Pretty impressive gameplay. You’re gonna get us nerfed again though haha. Just goes to show how a good player could make even the weakest class in game look good.

This is very nice gameplay. This is really the group size where D/D still has viability and can even shine. 1v1 its pretty bad, and larger groups it just melts as well.
I would like to say that I feel like zephyr’s boon is over-rated nowadays. With all the boon duration we can have (+75%) you will have perma fury just from swapping (each swap gives you 3.5s of fury). You also get 8.75s of swiftness from air swaps, as well as 17.5 each time you use updraft. It may be a convenience thing, but if you want more dps, I think you are better off with either bolt to the heart (to maintain the stats you get from the air tree) or Stone splinters.
Just watched the video. I would transfer just to roam with you and your team. The numbers you are getting make me want to roll power instead of condi again. You can only craft celestial right? This build is gonna take me forever to copy.

Short summary of the video:
- Organized 5-Men Group against bigger, mostly badly organized groups.
- Very good overall teamplay.
- Everything in Ele PoV with standard D/D gameplay.
- Video in 720p with bad bitrate (but that’s the case with most gw2 WvW videos)
Decide yourself, if you want to watch it.
To the build:
I personally would see 0/0/10/30/30 with aura sharing as the better team build for small- to midscale fights, as long as you’re using boon duration runes (see BlackBeards Post above).

very nice video of a roaming grp and an ele who knows his trade :-). what bothers me is the grp setup of 3 guards, that are carrying the team with their amazing cond removal and stability. I have nothing against guards, but if 40% of the wvw population are guards it gets pretty old. Some moments you really shine, specialy when you lightnign flash up to ruins, and knock some of them down and kill about 7-8 ppl who are on top. that jump off the cliffs @ east supply camp – pure class :-)
I love how you push through the lines, I used to play my ele like that till I dusted him after getting sick of the constant nerf hammer. Don t get me wrong I completely agreed that the dd ele had to be toned down, but it was just to much and they haven t stoped yet, evasiv arcana is next in line in getting a big radius nerf.

@BlackBeard: we are not bad 1v1 (atleast I dont feel it, big problems are against heavy condition bunkers, but this is op and gonna be nerfed).
@BlackBeard: zephyr’s boon is needed unless u get ur fury up from ur party (shout warriors). The swap is not enough and u lose way too much damage losing ur fury buff
@LordPhantom: aura share is good I know. But I find that protection is needed to go on a melee ball (just for few seconds), and protection on aura is what helps me most on it.

I’ve been running sup water/monk/melandru runes in my armor.
With the condition meta we’re seeing now, is it worth the extra boon duration of traveler runes to lose the condition reduction on melandru runes?
I know we have Ether Renewal and various condi cleanses, but I wonder which benefit is of more value in the long run?

You show how vulnerable the d/d ele is by the way you repeatedly run in and out of combat. Your dps barely helps the team. Your play is sub-par. You should use ae cd skills to give lasting help to your team’s dps, but you went high power to get better heals. You consistently show the role the d/d ele is being forced into – the finisher. You spend time cleaning up the downs, which puts you too far away from your team to provide support. Your solo time cleaning up also weakens your team, since they cannot protect you, nor can you damage the immediate threat, nor are you visually aware. I can commend you on your build. Your play style should follow the same focus on self-sacrifice for team strength.

I agree, he should stay in range of his enemies attacks and let himself get killed and rally the 6 downed enemies, he’s more useful to his team that way.

Yes, I agree his play is very subpar, spiking people down. WEAKENING the team structure. He definitely is not playing the DD ele to it’s required roll, the rallybot. How dare he be useful for more then one encounter. I spit. spit spit

10k hits doesnt help the team? what. Also keep in mind that most of his hits are aoe. Also keep in mind that he has at least 500 condition damage in celestial so his drakes breath is gonna tick for probably 400 for the next 12 seconds.

That’s why i suggested using 0/0/10/30/30. Aura Share + Protection on aura.

Have you ever played an ele before? You talk total crap and you can barely call this ‘critique.’ Either make a video with the ‘perfect gameplay,’ or elaborate on your embarassing critiques.
I’m not even going to try point out all the ‘faults’ you listed nor will I bother arguing with someone so clueless, but wtf does power have to do with heals LOL. And wtf does a self-sacrifice type of gameplay even mean? Were you the one who suggested the ‘setting lava font, getting downed and pray for rally’ spec?
While I salute your gameplay and thank you for the video, I am a bit disappointed as I expected some roaming and kiting action.
Sure you do an exceptional job, but I dont find this to be a representative roaming video, when you party with 3 guards and one cc warrior. They will CC and buff everything into oblivion and generate a melee deathzone where you can catch some air if needed.
Show us the kite Xun, I know you do that most of the time and this is what we all love about WvW and eles. Dont sell your soul to the meleetrain :-P.

While I salute your gameplay and thank you for the video, I am a bit disappointed as I expected some roaming and kiting action.
Sure you do an exceptional job, but I dont find this to be a representative roaming video, when you party with 3 guards and one cc warrior. They will CC and buff everything into oblivion and generate a melee deathzone where you can catch some air if needed.
Show us the kite Xun, I know you do that most of the time and this is what we all love about WvW and eles. Dont sell your soul to the meleetrain :-P.

Roaming vids are nice, but on some servers roamers almost do not exist, small team like yours against a bigger one is more common imo.

I like to play dangerous. Most PvP games I run solo for the thrill of dominating. I get burnt down a lot because I do not have the support most rpg are made for. Sure, I zerg to get the cheezy wins for lootz. I have 7 characters to feed (four 80s). The only five-mans I run are in fotm. In WvW I run up on small group fighting where allies are outnumbered. That happens often enough that I have learned what a d/d ele needs to do to bolster in a small foray.
The #1 thing to play well as an ele is to be ALWAYS contributing. That means always active. That is why confusion and torment are destroying eles right now. ANet finally attacked the core of the ele. Hate me for stating the truth. Fine. Or .. you could learn.

Show us a vid of you playing? I was one of the few who expected you to be trolling. But please show me wrong because I really like the way the OP is playing the game, but you said it can be done better of not better but more effiecient?

Despite I do not agree with his summary of Xuns video, he really has a point when it comes to Ele and the state of the game with torment and perplexity in a conditionmeta.
Yesterday I played ele for the first time in 4 weeks again. Sure I succeeded in most of my enterprises and won some 1v2 and 1v3 but I would with any class. I really noticed again how the conditionburst hurts Ele more than anyone else.
My thief and my warrior laugh about the condition meta. With the ele, engages without many other eles and guardians near you will end up being pingponging from 30% to 70% and back to 30% all the time. Making you very vulnerable to burst.
