Wands still bad?
Main useage now is dagger/focus. Staff is still runing around :-).
Scepter still has weak autoattacks and the new warhorn is slow.
Most people say they are bad…. if you are trying to pure dps, yes, they are bad, if you are trying to support, yes, they are bad… scepters or wands are for spike damage… on that matter they are good, insta damage that is hard to dodge and can even be cast during overloads.
So you can blind your target while overloading… ~yay . . .
Overall I’d say not as bad as it once was, but still awful enough that I don’t bother.
Daggers and staff is what I generally use.

I found Ranged Condi damage is pretty good way to get through HoT if you’re roaming alone. Otherwise, yuck.
I don’t know if the jungle critters have been heavily nerfed recently but I’m running around the jungle solo on my zerk tempest with a sceptre and warhorn and killing many critters surprisingly easily (especially for a clumsy player like me). Staff and daggers may be the cat golem’s meow but s/w aren’t as bad as their reputation seems to suggest. Or at least, they work for me. Personal preference if nothing else.

There’s also staff. Bosses tend not to move enough to be an issue, and regular enemies can be controlled with earth 4 and air 5 to set up fire attacks, or predict their movement so that they walk through the AoE.
Scepter is probably better due to not having to do that, but it’s definitely not the only option.
