The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Overall I like the ele and have enjoyed playing it as my alt. Having said that the lack of a weapon swap system has allowed for a sense of tedium to set it. To clarify I’m not talking about hot swapping in combat, I understand we get the attunements.
What I usually do is run staff in WvW, however I usually like to switch to d/d for various reasons. The process for this is to open my inventory, double click on the first dagger, double click on the second dagger, then close my inventory.
The process to switch back to staff involves opening inventory, double clicking on staff. One dagger will go back to my weapons bag the other into general inventory. I move the dagger from general inventory so I don’t accidentally merch it later. Then I close my inventory.
This might seem fair but after you’ve done it more than 20 times in a session the whole process gets very tiring.
I propose slots to allocate weapon sets that we can allocated a hot-key to. The rules for not swapping to in combat can still apply but anything to reduce the ridiculous repetition involved to swap weapons atm is better. As the system currently stands it involves unnecessary fiddling which distracts from the gameplay not enhances it.
This could even be applied to other professions. Again it doesn’t have to be swappable in combat, but even a key for your ‘back-up’ weapons that you could use to cycle through weapon combos out of combat.
tl:dr – Ele weapon swap system is ‘fiddly’ and needs consideration.
EDIT: The more I think about this the more it can apply to all professions. I’ve just come to notice it more on the ele.
This subject seems to have the most posts/topics on this forum but is probably the least important item that should be implemented right now. You might say, “Well other classes have weapon swap, so just put it for elementalists but only out of combat,” but this change cannot be made instantly or easily.
Only fair if you let every single thief have infiltrator’s arrow.
If you let every warrior have greatsword mobility.
If you let every ranger have that wierd flying greatsword ability.
So on and so forth.
sPvP games would be crazily imbalanced if every single char could traverse the map super speedily. WvWvW games would be the same if every char could traverse the map super speedily.

Are you saying making a more convenient weapon swap system will make people travel across a map too quickly?
