Here’s my situation. I’m level 80 with 400 artificing and tailoring. I’m looking to make myself the gossamer gear and maybe the ancient wood staff and scepter. The question is, should I prioritize one stat or go for a balance? For instance, should I make all berserker gear (power/vit/%crit) and go glass cannon?

Same question w/r/t runes. Should I get the rune of the elementalist or divinity for balance?

As for my playstyle, I intend to mix both PVE, PVP and WvW. I imagine this is material to the selection.

As an elementalist that runs D/D I tend to use mostly the gear with the stat “Carrion” which is power, vitality, and condition damage.

I am a D/D ele. I focus on critical damage, power, and condition damage (vitality is always nice too if you find a good piece of gear). You can basically use whatever you like. There isn’t any one thing you need to focus on.

I play PvP, PvE, and WvW (like you mentioned) and find this build quite useful.

Except you’ll find that your condition damage is almost always overwritten in group events by any other class adding burning/bleeds. I haven’t tried D/D in explorable modes yet, I usually prefer staff for that so I can’t comment on it’s effectiveness there. Since you should be stacking your debuffs in the group, it might work. But I would imagine D/D would spend a lot of time on their backs in explorable modes.

Personally I prefer Knight’s sets for explorable modes, power/precision/toughness. Other times just Berserker’s, power/precision/crit damage. Accessories are almost always Knight’s.

I focus on… Precision, Critical Damage, Power… followed by Toughness/Vitality. But then, I focus on a Might/Critical trait build. They call me Mr. Glass.

What’s the best rune? Divinity?
