What heal do you use?
Given the actual condition meta, Ether Renewal is by far the best Healing we have (IMHO).

Though i dont see much of that in WvW, that is the heal that i was thinking of taking.
Ether Renewal. I don’t see any choice in the matter. It’s a sad state of affairs really. With the condi meta it’s required to run renewal, but with the popularity of perplexity runes and interrupt builds, using it without stability basically gives a guaranteed interrupt. kitten ed if you do, kitten ed if you don’t.

So would need to spend points in a tree that i would no longer be using just to be able to use this heal?
Maybe it should be changed to something like the Ranger Healing Spring and have it remove conditions while you are inside its “spring” and have the actual heal as an instant/>1second cast.
Honestly, signet of restoration has been nerfed into oblivion, and is only slightly viable if you want to play hyper-aggressive. I feel like ether renewal is still necessary to survive against condis, I just make sure to use a util (armor of earth or arcane shield), LOS, or rock-solid (if I am running that) to make it work. It is so easy to interrupt however, and goes on a complete CD when it is. You have to use it earlier in fights than you would with other heals for that reason (also it has a short CD).
If you are running an aggressive build, you are best with the glyph, especially if you take glyph reduction.
None of our heals are all that awesome at this point in time given the meta/nerfs unless you spec for rock solid/ether renewal.
I like the Glyph heal for builds with 30 in Water. I’m currently running Fresh Air and have been using Ether Renewal for the condi cleanse.

Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

what 3 traits do you take?
Currently i run with Zephyrs Boon, Aeromancer’s Alacrity and Air Training. I could replace Air Training for Fresh Air but what could i replace for Quick Glyphs?

My 0/30/0/20/20 S/D Fresh Air build uses Bolt to the Heart, Air Training, and Fresh AIr (of course) for Air traits. Bolt to the Heart is ok against players (it’s mostly to make sure they can’t weasel away from close fights) but it really shines in PvE against bosses. Zephyr’s Boon is more of a D/D thing since I just have one aura and no Leap finishers.

Yeah i plan to run D/D as i find the Scepter to be kinda weak for the game play style i like, Fire and Air auto attacks are great against Thieves in stealth if they go stealth before the Air auto of Scepter goes off.
Yeah thinking about going 0/30/0/20/20. Going with Dagger/Dagger
Thinking about:
Air: Fresh Air, Quick Glyphs and Zephyr’s Boon
Water: Cleansing Wave and Soothing Disruption(!)
Arcane: Elemental Attunement and Arcane Retribution/Final Shielding/Renewing Stamina(!)
! = Not to sure about
I run SoR since anything else would be waste with 1100-1400 healing power – can’t complain.
In condition meta: Ether Renewl
When duelling a non condition build: signet (because having 20 seconds of protection all the time is ridiculous).

How do you get 20 second protection?

Combination of Written in Stone+Fire’s Embrace+Elemental Shielding+boon duration increase. Each of your 4 signets will grant you 3 seconds+increase of protection. Then you have potential auras from your weapon skills and combo finishers. Unfortunately, this build falls off hard in higher level play due to its inefficient condition removal and lack of stunbreakers if you don’t bring Signet of Air, but it probably has some use in PvE.
ER has not been worth running since the mist-form + ether renewal nerf. You’d have to run the stability-earth trait, and the earth line still sucks.
For countering conditions, nothing beats 30 water and cantrip-regen.
Using ER mostly as of late. I used to run the glyph with glyph cooldowns, but I haven’t run glyphs for some time now. I believe the glyph to be our most powerful heal by far when traited, maybe with the exception of the signet with an arcane/d/d build. The lack of condition removal when not traited to water can be difficult to cope with, so ER has become my fallback.
I really wish the Dwayna heal for humans had less of a cooldown…

Please no. The rangers only have ONE thing unique to them. That is their OP healing spring.
Let them die in peace, please.

The healing wouldnt be changed, instead of getting regen while standing in it, you get condition removal. It would just be changed HOW it works.
I really wish every single racial skill had less of a cooldown…
Fixed it for you.
Seriously, though, you’re right. It’s a heal that does nothing except heal you a moderate amount (and doesn’t even scale with Healing Power properly). There’s no reason it should be so much worse than every other option on every other profession.

Racial skills are supposed to be worse, its by design. Also, +1 to Ether Renewal.

Personally i think it depend on the build you use.
In d/d Build i prefer Ether Renewal because it has faster cooldown, more heal and massive condition removal, since i don’t use Cleansing Fire.
But in my Staff Build i prefer use Glyph of Elemental Armony, because of Protection, Regeneration and perma-swiftness..
Then it also has lesser casting time and i need to put down faster my field in WvW,
i can’t wait 3,5 s while my group is fighting and the only thing i’m doing it’s healing myself and for the condition i have all the right Water Traits

This.
My current build is used for hot join pvp 5v5 and lower ranked solo q (as I only play it to find less silly people, and people who want to play conquest not TDM).
However I only have 10 points in earth and counter productively I use S/F instead of D/D. Though earth sig + dragons tooth + 10% condition duration = win if they don’t have condition cleanse or melendrus … waits for rock dog … dragon tooths enemy.
With 4x earth runes and 2x monk you can get 35% -b-o-o-n- protection duration (I only run 10 in arcane, 15 in water is much better for me then 20 in arcane) which is 4 seconds per signet, 5 per 30 seconds on hit and about 8? from earth swap. Taking 3 signets and focuses fire shield when using the skills perfectly you have near 100 % protection fury and swiftness uptime. When swapping ether heal with signet heal and moving an additional 10 into earth (signet cool down) you can have 20 seconds of protection at any one time just from playing normally.
The build good vs some of the builds other eles have trouble with and was one of the 2 build I would run to defeat the D/D bunker, D/D power builds. However there are builds that other eles deal with fine that this has troubles with.
