What if conjures...
It will definitely make conjures better and people will surely make builds revolving around conjures. If this ever happens I’m pretty sure people will make combos revolving around Frost Bow and Deep Freeze.
One big problem is it will make Elementalist playstyle very similar to Engineers and their kits and Anet wants to avoid having different classes with similar playstyle.
If anything, I’d be really happy if conjures would stop using charges if you spam auto attacks and hit nothing lol.

Conjures are overall bad design and don’t fit the elementalist at all in their current estate.
The elementalist is supposed to combine the forces of 4 elements to gain certain effects (dmg, support, mobility/utility, cc). He is supposed to be versatile, that’s also why the attunements as such are pretty weak. The design philosophy kinda is to combine them, so you have to use 4 weapon sets to gain the same effects like other classes that only have 2 weapon sets (which is pretty badly balanced currently).
So I have no idea why they did actually implement conjures. If they gave some possibility to specialize, like frostbow would be used for superior healing, lightning hammer for superior cc, earth shield for superior tankyness and lava axt/fiery greatsword for superior dmg, it would kinda make sense. But neither skill sets nor traits nor anything does currently support that design.
People have been asking for conjures to function like kits for a long time now, myself included. It’s pretty much the only way eles will ever be able to alter their effective range in combat.
The devs seem to like gimping the class for no particular reason, though, so I doubt it’ll happen.
I hate the fact that auto attacks count towards the VERY low usage limit. Personally i would it if they just removed the usage limit. Of course it would mean skills would need to be adjusted a little. Of course FGS would stay the way it is currently.
I agree with Ash that each auto attack chain counts as a use is rather wasteful. The entire chain should count as one use.
fire axe and lightning hammer both have better amounts of mobility than they did before since Anet buffed the conjures and revamped a few skills.
conjures so far are useful “given the right scenario” (time to cast, no one directly attacking you, buddies that makes up for the utilities you are giving up in order to equip conjures ecc).
I tried, but haven’t been able so far to win duels using conjured weapons (I am not counting FGS, as that is Elite)
Same can be asked for engi and their kits. And I believe a strong “No” from Anet will be issued.

You can’t compare Conjures to Engineer Kits. Until Conjures dont have a set duration and usage limit and a 60second cool down, then they can not be compared to kits.
Conjured weapons have insane damage and passive buffs, which deserve to have a cool down.

How ‘bout they’re changed so you can swap to them at any time, but the second weapon is on a cooldown. Remove the stat bonuses, charges, and time limit, and make the Conjurer trait provide the stat bonuses and reduce the cooldown for the second weapon.
Select Conjure Lightning Hammer to switch to it, select it again to drop a second and put that function on an internal cooldown, use the weapon swap key to switch back to your normal weapons.
The insane damage you’re talking about is really only due to wall-stacking with a fiery greatsword – the skills provided by conjured weapons still have cooldowns.

and as if that wasn’t enough, they also strip you from the class core mechanic of attunements….
Meh I think they should work more like Banners.
Being able to drop them and pick them up at any time for their duration so long as they have charges.
