What is RTL and how was it "nerfed"?
Offhand Dagger Air 4 skill that would propel you forward along the ground.
The cool down as increased. This decreased the over all mobility of /D builds.
Mostly it’s people over-reacting.
Increased by a small amount.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
15 second CD on RTL to now 20 second CD on RTL. And with an attunement CD at 9 seconds (30 arcana), there are times now where your RTL might not be up when you switch back to air attunement while previously it would be up.

This. Even though it’s actually not that much of a longer cooldown, it makes a lot of difference since now you actually have to attune twice to air to have it.

Or give up your addiction to 30 arcane. Going 20 air for aeromancer’s alacrity puts the cooldown at 15 sec if you want.
Most skills cooldowns are longer than 9 seconds anyway, the only reason to go 30 arcane and spam attunement swaps is for boon uptime (and a bit more healing, condition removal, etc). When the “boon-hate” patch comes in we might see a lot more low/no-arcane builds.
5 seconds is a LOT in games where life or death is determined by something as little as 0.3 seconds of reaction time.
It was a huge nerf, and most importantly it affected GC eles (actually reliant on mobility to survive) more than it would ever affect the infamous bunkers (reliant on lol200boons20000healing200000condiremoval + mobility on top of it).

It was not a huge nerf in the least. It was an incredibly insignificant change that still left an Elementalist at being more mobile than any other class in the game.
Please stop over dramatizing things. You guys act like Elementalists are suddenly useless.

Thieves are, and have always been, the most mobile class.
A D/D ele was close over a short distance, but quickly falls behind over an extended run. The 33% increase on RTL made the difference even greater. Thief also has a lot of ledges that it can teleport onto which an ele can’t, allowing them to bypass barriers that an ele has to go around. There are places that a thief can instantly jump to with SB 5 that an ele would have to run halfway around the map to reach (30+ seconds).
Warriors are now more mobile than eles while out of combat, and even more so in closed in areas where RTL can’t move its full distance. The warrior’s large number of shorter burst movement skills allow them to maneuver through difficult terraikittenpeeds that an ele can’t match, and their sword leap allows them to jump across gaps that an ele can’t.
Ele mobility basically shines in one instance: jetting out of combat with RTL because it isn’t affected by movement modifiers (positive or negative), and if you happen to get hit with immob just as you activate it, GG hit respawn because you just slapped yourself with a 3 second unbreakable stun.
*edit – why is “terrain——at——-speeds” censored?
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet
RTL is not only nerfed with cooldown it is nerfed 4 times.
- Disabled Utility skills while RTLing
- Disabled Weapon skills while RLTing
- Changed the RTL arch so that you directly go downwards intead of towards
- Increased cooldown
But somehow people doesnt remember those nerfs, I love the times when i could use air 2-3 while RTL and also my utilities.
Also, RTL = Ride the Lightning, since everyone assumes you know what RTL means.

I`m guessing you pve & don`t pvp.
RTL nerf is huge, check the message below yours for just a few bits.
Also even Rangers can easily outrun us now, along with Necro & even had Guardians out run me easily lately.

Rocking Wizard Wars until this mess of a game is fixed…
Why doesn’t cripple/chill reduce the distance/speed travelled like other movement skills?
I can only imagine you play with your foot if other classes can catch up to you.
Being able to cross ledges with shadowstep is not intended and using that as a comparison for mobility is ridiculous.

If guardians and necros are outrunning you… You may be doing something wrong…
Why doesn’t cripple/chill reduce the distance/speed travelled like other movement skills?
This guy seems to be asking the right question. Reduce the cooldown to 15 secs and make cripple/chill reduce the distance/speed travelled like the other movement skills… The cooldown reduction still won’t keep you from completely resetting the fight which seems to cause all the crying in the first place.
once RtL is nerfed to oblivion, what are you gonna cry about?
address the root of the problem. elementalists are only annoying because they are unkillable. a glass cannon, or normally geared elementalist will have zero survivability if you butcher RtL again.
use your brain, if you have one.
just try and tell me, how hard is killing a staff ele solo? you have the answer there. that’s what happens with an elementalist that has no mobility.

Because cleansing slows with one of your many condition clears before using RTL wouldnt be fair? Classes with a lot less condition removal (warrior) have to.
You can’t compare an Ele using an aoe ground targeting slow to cast weapon to one using medium ranged immediate attacks. Saying something like that shows you have no understanding of the class.
An Ele doesn’t need mobility to win 1v1 as they often do.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
so its perfectly fine for an ele to destroy you 1v1, but it’s not fine that they have the choice to run away?
more logic please.

IMO, it’d be slightly unfair because other classes don’t have their skill bars locked while using their movement skills, so they could pop an instant use skill in conjunction with it if they get crippled or chilled or something else happens, whereas eles are locked into that decision; we can’t even cancel the skill to stop.
