Basically sceptor, arcane/lightning/water, the style works out for me but im really not sure on runes some people choose more survivability others more dps what would you suggest?

for fresh air with arcane pack is very solid.
Durability on arcane ele is propably the best one, but its not damage.

I am trying to remember what I used on that type of build before :P. Strength runes since you get a lot of might. Divinity/traveler runes, I used those for some extra survival.

I personally run Durability runes on my Marauder set for my ele and Scrapper runes on my Celestial set.

Can you link your build so we can maybe know what kind of stats you’re working with? I don’t think I can say there is a “one size fits all” rune that will work no matter what your gear is. If you’re full zerk (not a great idea on ele), get scrapper runes so you at least have some toughness. Pack runes are good, I just think some of the newer options are better personally.

I run dagger/warhorn and play tempest ele, so I am not sure if it will help but here is my build: http://asphyxia.tv/wvw-roaming-elementalist-marauder-variant/ – I play this for roaming. If you need a group spec I have that too. I’d recommend staff for larger group play, none of the other weapon sets compare to staff in larger group WvW play.

If nothing else, the gear combination may help you out since it a marauder/zerk/cav mix.

Pre-HoT, my ele ran fire/water/arcane with Staff. Scepter just won’t maximize your AOE potential in group play. It is pretty decent for roaming or small groups, but in larger groups it is very weak to run.

For scepter, fresh air build was always pretty good, so you’d probably want air/water/arcane if you plan to stick with scepter. I’d definitely recommend going for Tempest and running staff though.

Try scepter/focus Air (222) Earth (132) Arcane (131) with signet of restoration, arcane shield, signet of earth, lighting flash and FGS (mostly for disengage).
This build will give you some toughness and, damage mitigation and nice survabity thanks by earth focus skills cooldown reduction.
You can also may take some marauder pieces for push a bit your vitality.
For runes and sigils you can try with strenght runes, strenght sigil and air sigil.
I personaly prefere runes of the pack with Air and Fire sigils. I think is also a cheaper set up.

p.s.: with this build you can may have problems vs condi so you can also swap your signet of restoration for ether renewal, but be carefull since it can be interrupted Pretty easy.

What would be the alternative for the durability rune? I play marauder ( celestial trinket)dagger warhorn ele with fresh air+earth+tempest (aura). I do not have mastery for durability and wonder what other runea might work until i get them.

Ultimately durability is the best option, but you could also go for Scrapper runes which are a pretty good rune.

It´s anoying but you can overload for swiftness. I run earth, arcane, tempest and constantly swap elements when running. You get used to it ^^.
If you don´t like that the options are: trait air, use air signet or traveler rune. The rune is a good one for ele with 15% boon duration. For power ele you can run pack rune.

You can trade proof of heroics from WvW for the durability runes.

Also, I have permanent swiftness buddy. Here is the rotation:

- Start in air
- Use air 4 (if using warhorn)
- Air overload and let it finish
- Switch to water, press water 3 to blast the lightning field
- Use water overload but don’t let it finish casting
- Switch to fire
- Fire overload, don’t let it finish casting.
- Switch to earth
- Earth overload, don’t let it finish.
- Switch to air, repeat from start.

You can also replace going into water second with going in to earth and using earth 2 and 4 to blast the lightening field twice, but you have to stop walking to do that. I like to go water and just blast it once because I don’t have to stop running to do it lol.

Leadership runes have more stats and 10% more boon duration (30%) plus a decent active that works great with either elite shout or sylvari racial elite.

downed state is bad for PVP

I did buy the runes and do the combo as you said. It is the only way to get proper swiftness but it tends to feel too much work just to run properly In any case it is a good build, a tad bit too tanky. Thanks for your help and interest

Use Superior Rune of the Herald until you can get durability runes. You can buy them off the trading post and the only big difference is 5% less boon duration than durability. Toughness is exactly the same.

Assuming your traited in air….the first passive trait is 25% movement speed while attuned to air. No need to waste precious cool downs blasting a lightening field when you have movement speed already. You can also swap one of your utilities to Signet of Air for 25% movement speed as well. Just be sure to swap if before fighting if you can.

Yep, if I trait air, all is fine and nice. If I go water + earth then I need some blasts. Sadly in wvw there are too many ambushers, so swapping utility is not always available. I like the durability runes but my heart lies within the scepter focus fresh air still. I still hope a good rework on scepter.

Use Superior Rune of the Herald until you can get durability runes. You can buy them off the trading post and the only big difference is 5% less boon duration than durability. Toughness is exactly the same.

Why exactly do you think 15% boon duration is better than 175 power? Herald runes are not good, scapper are significantly better. People don’t take durability runes just for its boon duration, they take it for the effect it gives when hit. The boon duration is a nice bonus to help give you more duration for the resistance and other boons, but my ele has permanent up time of protection, regeneration and vigor without even having boon duration anything for my celestial set.

I personally think for the celestial set that scrapper runes are better than durability, but that is because without them you lose too much power. You can’t go wrong with extra power and I’d take over 175 power from Scrapper runes over 15% boon duration from Herald runes any day of the week.
