Q:
On my d/d ele, I switched to using Sigil of Battle and Sigil of Fire after the patch. After seeing the changes to the Sigil of Fire, I’m not sure it’s my best option anymore. My build is 0/2/2/4/6 with Celestial armor, weapons, and mixed Celestial/Cavalier trinkets with Strength Runes. What is my best choice for Sigils?
Also, I use my build mostly in WvW, so I keep a staff in my bag for when I need it. What sigils should I run on my staff?
(Don’t say bloodlust)
A:
Solid choices are:
Sigil of Air: This hits for 1k+ damage if you have any kind of decent power, only a 3 second cooldown. It is the best sigil for dps in the game now.
Sigil of blood: This provides 226.5 HPS base if you proc it everytime off cooldown. This also damages too.
Sigil of strength: Might 10 second base, with enough might duration you can get the 6 stacks of might battle provides in 20 seconds in 12 seconds with good crit chance. You can always run them together.
Sigil of fire: It’s ok now but it took at 15% damage nerf while still keeping its old cooldown.
Sigil of purity: This is basically cleansing wave or water trait as long as you have 6 arcana it will remove conditions at the same pace but you do need to crit on something for it. This works on ambient creatures too
Those are solid choices for d/d ele now. Generosity if you have a spare or the gold to buy one.

i run battle/energy for staff since i don’t run renewing stamina in my staff build.
For D/D switch out sigil of fire for air. It’s almost twice as much damage to single targets.
Besides what oZii said, hydromancy and energy are good options with more defense/utility.

assuming you were able to hit something every second, you’d have to have an 85% crit chance (65% + 20% for fury) to get 6 stacks of might in 12 seconds with Sigil of Strength.
Since most WvW builds aren’t going to have 65% crit chance, Sigil of Battle is better IMO.
Thanks for the feedback! Wow, Air is surprisingly cheap…
