What stats are you focused on?
I haven’t focused on a single stat in particular for two primary reasons.
First, I used a bit of what I had, so if I had a piece of Carrion gear, I went with that. I have a berserker chest, so I wear it, etc. I did purchase a Berserker Staff from the TP, as well as Dwayna runes for all my gear (I went with Dwayna to up my healing stat).
Second, I like being a “jack of all trades.” Because I’m not solely pumping power/precision, I’m still quite tanky (I’m also water/arcane specced, i like playing a healer/support class) so I don’t die often, but those few pieces of berserker/rampager gear keep my damage from being total crap. I don’t know my power off the top of my head, but I have about a 25% crit chance too. The carrion pieces I have up my condition damage, so eruption and flame burst are pretty good (when using a staff, obviously). Seeing as how I start almost every PvE fight with Eruption (to stack the bleeds) and use Flame burst all the time, this plays in my favor. And with the Dwayna runes and 30 in water, I have 650 healing power, so when I swap to water to heal, my hp fills up quick!
I’m sure this spec/gear combination isn’t 100% min-maxed like some MMO’ers like to do, but I find it quite effective and I like playing it (which is really the most important thing). I’m covered no matter what I encounter in the world, I can nuke okay (but not as well as a glass cannon), I can bleed/kite well (but not as well as full carrion), and when I have to heal, I do that well too (but not as well as someone rocking 1100 healing power with no damage).
It’s a game, I save my min-maxing brainpower for real-life work…

I balance my stats bar from prec and crit damage, my build is more about sustained damage, support and bunkering. I have a bit of everything which is good because you’ll get something out of any attunement you’re in.

Raw power and survivability is all you need on ele.
On my Ele I’m debating. Thinking of going full Carrion’s Armor/Jewelery/Weapons. Or possibly Rampager’s Armor with Vaklyrie Jewelery/Weapons. Leaning toward’s Carrion though

I would argue that staff is not necessarily the best weapon for WvW…I only ever use it if I am defending a keep or attacking a keep.
Every other time I use D/D. And since I find most keep sieges fairly boring, I use D/D like 98% of the time.

Still, bleed/burning options of D/D are limited enough NOT to warrant speccing for cond damage, while your close range coupled with low hp/armor pools require you to spec more toughness and vitality.
I have over 3k attack and ~2850 toughness, along with nearly 19k hp, when roaming with D/D on my ele, all backed up by 900 healing power.
No need for precision, crit hits or any cond dmg.
I have a mix of exotic crafted knights and valkyrie gear currently which is working pretty well. I have decent power/precision/crit damage for my offense and a mix of tougness/vitality for defense. I do want to try a full invaders set though as Drkn suggests and am working on farming tokens for invaders’ gear, but that wasn’t an option I could achieve quickly when I first hit 80.
Power/toughness/vitality → Ascalonian Catacombs set, easy tokens, fast set.
Never ever craft any exotic weapons/armors, just farm dungeons, making money in the process.
I went for full sets of crafted exotic Valkyrie armor, Knight jewelry and Berserker weapons. That means power, vitality, toughness, precision and crit. damage. Then I added Dwayna runes for the support front, especially as the superior ones did not need me to sell any of my organs in order to afford them.
For open world PvE, dungeons and extremely infrequent WvW, with mostly staff and a little scepter/dagger, those stats feels most well rounded to me. But I have only done the first 6 story mode dungeons so far.
