Or more specifically what stats to survive in the new zones?

I have run the new content on my Reaper with Knight Armor and full ascended Zerk trinkets, Ranger with Cavalier armor and Ascended Sentinel Trinkets but next is my Ele, and I dread soloing in there…

I plan on playing Staff Ele (not a deal breaker), would Celestials armor and trinkets be enough to keep me alive and do decent dps? For the 2 previous professions I had pets to help me throughout it all, but with Ele I face a no-pet situation on a fragile profession.

Anyone who has tackled the new content on an Ele have any sort of tips, regarding build and gear? Any advice would be greatly welcome.

I think half marauder half zerk works just fine in terms of survival if you trait for Earth and Tempest. My current roaming build is staff Tempest with Earth/Air/Tempest.
Can survive most contents aside from some Champions in HoT. Utility is quite important here and should be chosen according to situation. Generally speaking you’d want to take at least one on demand shout aura.

I personally dislike Celestial since the damage is really way too low, and wasting stats that you don’t actually use in the build.

If running staff, there isnt really a point in getting stats other than zerker (mb marauder). Thats just the way the weapon works in pve. Non-glass cannon builds simply incentivice other weapons.

Humm, Marauder/Zerk gear it is.

I can get the Insignia fairly easy, the recepies will be more complex but doable.

Thanks!

You might also wanna check out the new Wanderer stat

You could go Wanderer/Zerk, but its maybe made more towards a melee build (D/WH)

Full zerk. Not kidding. Get Arcane Shield and you’re good to go.

Agreed. Assassin’s armor/staff here, with Berserker trinkets.

You don’t survive for any length of time by soaking up hits by gearing for vitality and toughness, you survive by learning what to avoid and how to counter the attacks. There is no substitute for spending the time to learn what the enemies do.

I invest in Vit just to avoid one shot. If you enjoy many one-shot (especially by champ), always have to put 100% full attention in surviving, you’re being too harsh to yourself.

Pretty certain that extra 4~5k HP saves me a tons of time because many mobs in HoT just hit like 13k per hit. (Like mushroom explosion, champ attack, range arrows. smokescale assault)

I have mixed Zerk/Celestial, with some Ascended, some Exotic.

What I find helps most in the new zones is the right traits, rather than specific gear. Using a Warhorn, with high uptime on 40% Protection and the 10% from Frost Aura almost makes gear choices irrelevant, at least where defense is concerned.

That means you can run very offensive gear, or builds that incorporate the above abilities and still survive while doing great damage.

I’ve seen some Eles also going for high Condition damage, utilizing Sinister gear. I personally haven’t tried the raid yet, but am also looking into Viper’s gear as sort of the optimal offensive gear (maximizing both direct and condi simultaneously), and Trailblazer for tankiness while still having respectable Condition based offense.

Personally I am using a cleric/zerk mix, but that’s just because I like playing healer, and couldn’t afford zealot
