Easy q
Superior Sigil of Bloodlust or Superior Sigil of Battle.
Keep in mind that second one has a 9-10 second internal cooldown, even though it’s not listed.
Whats yours thoughs?

Both and use D/D =). As for staff, I like bloodlust more. And with staff you don’t switch attunements often as with D/D.

Sarcasm I assume? I switch way more often than the internal cooldown of the sigil.

On a side note, some paper napkin math suggests that even at 3 stacks, sigil of battle’s better than the +5% damage sigil.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

For WvW I use:

A S/D set with double Bloodlust to stack it up quickly.

My primary S/D set with Force (5% Damage) and Battle (3x Might on Swap)

Newb question: Sigil of Battle says it applies Might when swapping to that weapon in combat. While Elementalists can’t swap weapons during combat, lots of people here have recommended using this Sigil for +Might.

So how does it work? Does it give you +3 Might when you use a skill associated to that weapon? Or does it give you +3 Might when you switch to that weapon outside of combat?

And is how it currently works a bug we can expect to get fixed?

Attunement swapping is considered weapon swapping for elementalist. And yes yo’ll +3 might when you swap attunement in combat. But it has like 9sec cooldown to trigger again.

AH! Ok, I’ll be grabbing some then. I generally go through the standard Air>Fire>Earth rotation during combat. Sounds like I should start in Earth so going to Air would get me the first 3.

It’s not sarcasm. In PvE situtations, when you just stay in fire attunement and spam 3 skills are quite often (plus might stacking from major fire trait, OP asked about dps build).
And +5% damage – it’s sigil of force. Bloodlust gives 10 power per kill, which is better then sigil of battle.

In a dungeon you’re going to go down, it’s just a fact of life. Even the tankiest of tanks go down once or twice. I don’t like bloodlust sigil for this reason. I went with Sigil of Strength to take advantage of the Arcana attribute that increases buff duration.

Superior Sigil of Bloodlust – > +10 Power each time you kill a foe. (max 25 stacks and ends on down)
or
Superior Sigil of Battle – > Gain 3 stacks of Might (20 seconds) when you swap to this weapon while in combat.

Now?? Which one is better for dps staff elem ??

The reason I compared Sigil of Battle to Sigil of Force is to show why Sigil of Battle is a good choice. I’ll admit that wasn’t the right place to do so though.

However, I disagree that Bloodlust is a better choice because Sigil of Battle also gives condition damage. In fights that last longer than 10 seconds, you’ll get 6 stacks of Might from your sigil alone. That’s 210 power and 210 condition damage. Whereas Bloodlust gives you 250 power at best. Since you’re likely to do at least some condition damage (through either bleeding or burning), Battle surpasses Bloodlust easily.

To sum it up:
Superior Sigil of Battle grants 210 power and 210 condition damage.
Superior Sigil of Bloodlust grants 250 power.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

Sigil of Battle, it’s more reliable. Plus, if you’re using Scepter and know your combo fields you can get 15-18 stacks of might easy.

In the greater blob of things, there is only the zerg.

You have to remember to take your arcana line into consideration as well. At 30 arcana thats +30% boon duration, so you can keep up roughly 9 stacks of might from sigil of battle (after 20 seconds of fighting of course). So that’s 315 power and condition damage. Basically, the longer your fight, the better sigil of battle will be. I’d personally stick with sigil of battle for a fight longer than 10 seconds because of the condition damage.

That being said, you can just use both. Get kills for blood lust stacks from a different weapon and just equip the weapon with sigil of battle once you have 25 stacks. The stacks remain even after you unequip you bloodlust weapon.

Anyone ever try sigil of Doom? I would like to use this against bunker builds but it doesn’t seem to work. I never see poison applied to my enemies.

last I heard sigils shared CDs meaning if both sigils have CDs only one will proc and then both will be on CD effectively making one sigil worthless

did this change?

I don’t like Sigil of Doom or Sigil of Bloodlust (this is the one that steals life right?) or other similar sigils that apply an effect on hit, because many of the elementalist’s attacks will remove the effect before you’re able to apply it. For example, some attacks like burning speed will remove the “effect” at the beginning. Switching attunements (because it apparently counts as an attack) will remove the effect. Many AOE attack will also only remove the effect and not apply it.

That said, for D/D, I like Sigil of Geomancy currently (Note: it does direct damage + 3 stacks of bleeds). If you’re fast enough, even after updraft, if you swap right away, it’ll still hit the target.

@hackks: That’s what I heard too. I haven’t tried it recently, but I think it still holds.

Doom is broken with Ele, it’s in the bug thread. Bloodlust is outpaced very quickly by Battle. Bloodlust stacks power on skill, Stormy O.

Swap sigils don’t work together. Only one will apply its effect. Stacking sigils won’t either. Sigils that have a chance to trigger on critical hits stack their chance percentages multiplicatively, not additively. For example, two major Sigils of Fire, which each have a 20% chance to trigger on critical hit, will have a 36% chance to trigger, not 40%. Two different proc-on-crit sigils work fine together.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

So this is confirmed? If you have 2 swap sigils applied, will it just choose one randomly? I have been wondering about this and could never really find a definitive answer.
