Why I'm leaving the Ele for now

All classes kills faster and has more surviveabilty than the Elementalist no matter how good you are.
I leveled my Ele to level 55 before I tried the guardian. I have now leveled my Guadian all the way to 80 now and I have been feeling so powerfull. Even with tank Spec i kills things faster than my Ele and with only focus on DMG the Guardian still has better surviveabilty.
Right now I’m back using my Ele focusing on DMG and still it takes 2-3 times longer to kill anything compared to my guardian and seeing every other class kill faster than my Ele.
I have to rely on slowing the harder enemies with freezing and stun etc, to stay alive. Killing a Veteran can take several minutes compared to any other class that only needs about 1 min or so. I takes like 20 sec for my guardian when he was focusing on DMG spec.
I’ve been playing the Warrior and Ele now to level 28. I’ve read specs on the best levelling theories. However I’ve made my decision to leave the Ele until its fixed.
Comparing single mob fights:
Warrior: 5-7 secs
Ele: 20-25 secsMost of the spells are bugged, especially that I’m playing with a Sept/dagger. Starting as Air, push backs are bugged and the lightning bolt dash is bugging most frequently.
So now, its back on the warrior. I’m going to check patch notes in the future, but I’ve enjoyed this profession. When they rebalance it in PvE and fix most of the bugs. I’ll probably come back and try again.
What are your takes on the Ele? are you having similar problems?
Neither of those skills are bugged… Ride the Lightning moves to intercept your target so if they start standing still or moving a direction you won’t hit them, that is all. Not exactly sure why you think Updraft is bugged.
If you are taking 25+ seconds to kill a normal mob you are doing something wrong. The only class (I have played every class multiple times in both beta and live) that can even come close to killing things as fast as my ele is warrior. You can’t play ele like other classes in the game and just sit in one weapon/attunement all fight. If you actually use all your abilities and attunements you kill things very fast.

My ele is now 67 with all equipments below lvl 50. but im happy hunting in a 60-70 area.
ele kills mob faster than Necro and Eng its true. u can see i have 2 80 characters they are Necro and Eng all with 100% map exploration.
ele kill any mob 2-5 lvl higher then me in 12sec(3 times staff skill 2, thats costs 2*4.8sec) while eng kill the same lvl mob in about 20-30 sec and Necro in 15-45sec(depend on minions’ mind).
ArenaNet should take more balance suggestions from people who have played a class to level 28.

Funny i actually just levelt my Ele to level 28 !
And i takes me about 5-7 seconds to kill 1 mob or 3 at the same time … considering almost everything is aoe ..
No clue about end game..
I’m not having any issues, but then again I’m not using the scepter.
I really cannot blame you. The (increasing) number of bugs is ridiculous, and the elementalist playstyle at 80 can be summed up with one word: buffbot. Well, maybe two words joined :P
I’m sorry you aren’t happy with Elementalist. I get where you’re coming from though.
After trying other professions, I find my Ele kinda frustrating to play because he dies so much easier and just feels less powerful. I feel that Eles perform very well in groups and offer excellent support, but that doesn’t help me much as I am a primarily solo PvE player!
But who knows, maybe it is because I am lower level, or because I am not awesome enough to play Ele. -shrugs- Still, Elementalists just seem to be a PITA to play compared to other classes yet doesn’t offer PITA-worthy results. I still play mine sometimes anyway though (because I love the concept), just not as a main. I play my Necromancer a lot more lately.

Or if it’s really to slow for you, then take on more mobs at the same time. You have more then enough AoE for it.

When playing ele, dont compare it to other classes or you’re gonna have a bad time. The only upside of playing ele is the fact that its skills looks great. But when you compare ele doing more damage or surviving more attacks then don’t cause im pretty sure every class can out damage an elem provided with same gear, and every class has more survivability than eles.
Ele in PvE is fine, if you attune-swap and create combos that maximize your combo fields you should have no problem taking down mobs fast and keeping them at distance.

I lvled my ele to 80 and got full CoF gear. (weapon and all). My friend is a fresh 80 warrior and I have to struggle to keep up with his dps. Even then he hits about 4-5k harder then I do. And yes I attunment swap.

I have engineer and ele too, fully leveled both with exotic gear for both, there is no way in hell elementalist is even close to engineer DPS or survivability. 1 word Grenadier.

You are playing it wrong if that is true, on my elementalist where i also run S/D i kill mobs in 5-7 seconds in both single fight and multiple mob situations, most of the damage comes from aoe spells anyways. Glad you left elementalist cause sounds to me like you are giving the profession bad rep just by being one.

Same story man level 80 ele with CoF set here too. Pretty sure most people on this forum talking about how their DPS and survivability eclipses other classes are just ignorant. No matter how you spec, go to a dungeon like CoF with other good players and sit there killing the spiders for an entire minute doing pathetic damage but when any other class comes along you’ll see how it’s HP amazingly starts moving so much faster, consistently, even if you stop attacking to heal. Play those classes and you’ll see why it dies so much faster. I was specced into condi and power at that point. Could easily survive the dungeon with any weapon set too. Any class can.
That doesn’t mean it’s balanced. Eles damage is pathetic. We have literally one viable build, and it’s seriously boring. Think about eles skills. Why would eruption ever hit anyone? Have you seen the cast time and animation on that skill? There is no amount of skill that will make it land. It’s reliant on enemy stupidity. This is why nobody builds damage. As soon as the enemy see a glass cannon, they’ll actually stop standing in your spells and drop you instantly. Relying on enemies lack of intelligence is the opposite of a high skill ceiling class. That’s what people have to get their head around. That’s what Anet needs to understand. Nearly every damaging skill on the elementalist is low skill ceiling. Area denial. That’s all they’re good for. It’s hard to hit mobs if they’re moving let alone players. We have no way to keep people in lava font, they can walk out in one to 2 ticks, that’s if we place it perfectly. Yet its damage is so low. Water 2 is a slightly faster much weaker dragons tooth. I just described to you 3 out of the 4 damage skills a staff ele has at its disposal in realistic PvP. The only reliable damage skill we have is the third in fire with burn. THIS is why eles are all specced into combo field proccing tanks/supports as staff and low to medium DPS tanks as scepter dagger. Our damage skills are utter trash. Playing a good staff ele revolves around hitting water attunement every time it’s up and laying down combo fields purely to roll into them (because the skills themselves do low damage and don’t land). Scepters dragon tooth has this problem, pheonix needs work too (take off all the stupid vigor and condi removal if you don’t want us tanking and actually make it usable outside of melee range), D/D isn’t so bad (yet they think D/D is the weapon set that needs help, maybe in numbers but nothing else). When they nerf our one viable build, which they will, we will have nothing.
I utilise the tank/support or tank/low damage build and I have people asking for my build and saying things along the lines of “you’re the first good elementalist I’ve seen”. This is not how we want to play. Remove the absolute blatent logistical flaws from staff and scepter, then balance. Until dragons tooth has 10k damage and becomes a joke, until pheonix isn’t a melee skill, scepter eles will still be rolling tanks. If you really just nerf our trait synergy with our one viable build, and maybe “increase damage on eruption, lava font, dragons tooth, pheonix and some dagger skills”, I really will be quitting my ele for good. Give us a hard class to play. I know all the elitists here will get upset that I suggest eles low skill, but it really is. Learn your 4 attunements and don’t bother learning to land your skills, it’s pretty irrelevant. Switch to water as much as you can, 7 8 9 are get out of jail free cards, 10 is a trashy potential heal.
Well no matter how much might you stack, how many eles you swap guardians are tough as kitten, thiefs do way too much dmg (and go inv, back to full health) and back to do the kill.

eng has greatest survivablity in this game is true:
the fastest move speed: gain swiftness for 5 sec every 5 sec and unarmed kits 10% speed
the longest range: as a grenadier u know it
some elixir makes eng invincible while in danager.
But killing mobs in shorter time is the topic. every ranged class fighting against over 5 elite or champion melee mobs in the same time by Hit-And-Run have no problem with survive. Ele kills faster than necro and eng does is true while none of them should be killed by any melee mob. While facing over 3 ranged mob. ele will die and the other 2 class can easily run away safety. but i regard this as an accident and this really hasnt occured during my game times.
in PvP. 2 ways in survive:
1, take vit and thou gears. but its useless in this game. ive tried over 32000hp and 2800 defense Necro but be killed in less than 6 heartseekers. its impossible to run away in this game. and not much choice during the combat. so the best defense in this game is offense . release all of ur skills in a short time deal as much damage as possible then try run and wait for CD is the only way. so ele is my best choice right now.
2, perfect positioning. i ve played WoW and got “Gladiator” in S2 S3 S4 S7 S8, over 2200 rating in every season in 3v3 with my boyfriend and his best friend before S9(we quit because class balance s u x). i played a priest so i know how to survive by positioning. and its much easier in this game because u dont need to pay attention to ur mates’ position.
So my opinion is:
Strong Points: AoE killing fastest. Best explosive power.
Weak Points: Lowest survivability. One of the slowest feet(swiftness CD too long).
