I don’t understand why all the staff projectiles are so slow. They miss way too often imo. Really easy to dodge. Spells like Air 3, Earth 5, and all the auto-attacks.

It would make Staff just a bit better if all the projectiles were sped up a bit. As of right now, if an opponent is strafing and avoiding AoE, Air 3 and Earth 5 will not hit. That means the only depend-able CC to lock someone down so Ele Staff AoE will hit is with Water 4 Air 5 (and Earth 4 but it’s rather so-so). Both spells have 40+ second CDs. What do we do with the rest of the time?

We wildly use Lava Font and Eruption and hope the enemy is silly enough to stand in our AoE. Which they will do if it’s a cap point sometimes but not at all if we’re fighting outside a cap point. Meanwhile, we shoot out our weak Auto-attacks and cross our fingers hoping those hit too.

Faster projectiles won’t make Staff Eles OP, it’ll just make them more viable in 1v1 situations. I don’t want to depend on getting the chance to sit back and spam meteor shower to actually get kills and once again, cross my fingers, and hope no one singles me out as a menace.

Fireball and Waterbolt as well. Who needs dodge when you can just strafe sideways and completely avoid Elementalist staff autoattack damage.

Just my opinion… and feedback.

I wrote a long detailed list for fixes… and this was one of the situations on my list. But at the last minute, I decided not to post it.
It’s true that the projectiles are way to slow, and do not do enough damage. They can be easily missed by the enemy player moving around and strafing with q and e. Not to mention the damage reductions, self healing and blocks that other classes can do. Anet needs to buff STAFF fire # 1 and Earth #1, or speed up their projectiles… perhaps both. Meteor is not an AOE. Meteor is a random hit placed into an area. So that too needs a buff, or some sort of status condition if they’re too scared to buff its damage.

At any rate. ANET knows which character I play the most. I do play 5 different classes. It’s a shame that I can do more burst damage (@ range) on my low level Thief in Wv3, then I can with my level 80 Elementalist with decent gear. I’m not bad at my Ele. It just takes a lot longer to build up damage against other players.
Scepter / Dagger and Staff needs buffs ASAP.

I can’t imagine what my thief will be like at level 80 with full gear. But that’s what I would rather play at this point.
