I mean among the ele community (or at least most) they were considered some of the worst signets in the game, and then they nerfed them even more this update and then buffed cantrips to an even higher level. does anet just want us all to play cantrip ele and forget that ele signets exist? The only thing that made signets even viable were when they were able to be traited to give Fire Aura.

Examples

  • Signets have 1 Trait that effects them now. Im being literal, they have 1 out of 45 possable selectable traits that do anything to change their behavior and its Written in stone. Which allow their (generally horrable passives) to persist after cast and reduced cooldown time.
  • Cantrips have 3 Traits that Effect them allowing them to grant 3 Boons each (not including their own) remove conditions when you feel is right, and auto cast under the right conditions (allowing more uses than possable under very often conditions) and reduced cool down time. And there are now 6 cantrips

I used have ‘Elemental Shielding’ with ’Fire’s Embrace’ and ‘Written in Stone’ so I had protection and a fire shield and still maintained the passive effect on all 4 signets with a 20% cooldown reduction

honestly they’re useless now

But cantrips are like, the only stun breaks in game with a 75s cd, so they must be SUPER good to deserve a longer cd! Thats how it works, right?

I can live with having my old build wrecked and needing to switch to something new. What I am complaining about is that there was this talk about encouraging build diversity, but the reality is that we are being forced to switch over to the more popular builds. I trust that this is an unintended consequence, so we need to speak up to hopefully correct it.

While I sympathize with people that had their build wrecked, especially when it was a creative one, I think the hate on signets is a little much. Maybe they’re the worst of any class but a couple of them are quite useful in some scenarios. I run with 2 or 3 signets more often than not and seldom use cantrips outside of pvp (and not always even there).

I do agree they ruined build diversity with this patch.

Oh, and counting traits that affect them is a stupid way to compare relative utility.

They need to follow the ideas given, and make each of the signets give a corresponding elemental shield for 4 seconds on use (to prevent stacking, remain thematic and bring back the synergy of Elemental protection).

You say signets but glyphs are useless too (except glyth of storms at pve).
And they also have only 1 trait that affects them,

And then you have conjures, that they are mostly useless in all situations (except frost bow #4, pve too), not to mention they have only 1 trait that affects them too.

They called us TEMPESTs, but we can use our elite to cheat death instead

I gave up using signets long time ago.
Now I only use Arcane Shield, Armor of Earth, Frost Bow/Flame Axe & Glyph of Elementals

The only Utilities & Elite that actually do anything.

yeah that’s why there are so many signet builds around… not.

there is no doubt signets were nerfed by this patch (vis a vis loss of fire aura), and no doubt that they were weak before the patch.

downed state is bad for PVP
