Why didn't eles get some reworked skills?
With the june specialization patch, Mesmers got a lot of their lacking weapon, utility and elite skills reworked, Guardian elites were completely remade, and a lot of other classes also saw some lacking skills rebalanced.
But all eles got were burning updates for the condition changes? Why no updates to our extremely lacking elites? Why no balance changes to make some utility more usable in all gamemodes?
Why not make focus fire 4 do more than 12 damage? How are skills like scepter water 2 still allowed to exist?
Why not a single change to makes us even consider using ANYTHING BESIDES CANTRIPS IN PVP/WVW?
The guy who develops for the ele is completely lost in regards to what is strong/weak, what DOES work and why, and how to make tweaks to fix new problems.
Case in point: it was initially proposed to make some major changes to water/arcana to tone down survivability of those two lines (something that needs to happen), but without any other necessary changes (to weapon skills and utilities) to keep the class viable. When eles SCREAMED how this would make the class unviable again, he ends up just buffing them instead, which is too much in the other direction.
I mean, watching the devs talk and show gameplay of ele makes me cringe. It’s like watching beta players try to play and explain ele. But have you seen them do Guard videos? They look really kittening good. I’m not saying that balancing and design is easy. I’m not saying the devs are incompetent, because they do good elsewhere. But we could use a better dev team for the Ele and general spvp ballence. The refusal to take feedback from the community and lack of understanding of why the ele is pigonholed into the meta like it is, is causing things like the tempest, warhorn, and previously proposed changes to exist. Its why our elites are trash and were stuck in cantrips. Its why the most support oriented class was given more support for its elite spec. The current method for solving our problems is trying to make cool things to draw us out of them.. that doesn’t make them viable…

Yeah just compare how Grouch showed off some Guardian-Dragonhunter combos on Svanir in the reveal video (basically instantly killing Svanir with 25 vulnerbility stacks and lots of conditions from traps). Compare that to how that dev on friday almost died killing Svanir with Tempest… laying down a fire field and then circling around him, not doing much, not swapping, nothing. Pathetic, really.
cause anet don’t know anything about balance of thier own game also they don’t want any1 play ele any more
Ele is not the only class that did not get its needed revamps in the last patch. Necromancers and rangers also need some serious work, since their role in PvE is questionable at best. Hopefully, Anet will address their issus, and ours, in a patch before HoT. I really don’t want to go through the expansion with a useless scepter and bad elites.
