arcane abatement problem
It works perfectly, of course you need to be at a certain height for it to trigger, go check from the rank 80 vendor position.
Fire, air and earth work as advertised.
Water has a graphical effect similar to earth, but doesn’t heal. I haven’t had a chance to test condition removal yet.
*edit- it doesn’t seem to be doing anything in water. It doesn’t even trigger my signet of restoration heal the way the other three attunements do.
*edit 2- after some more experience with it, water will go off when your health is bellow full, but it seems to trigger before fall damage is applied and will only heal the amount you were already injured and not the new falling damage.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet

Water does work it removes one condition, I’ve tested it.

That makes sense. They probably don’t want you using water to heal off damage from the fall itself. Would essentially make the water version “better” than all other fall traits, because it would reduce damage by more than 50% (through the fact that it would heal off part of the damage taken).

Then they should just make it one of the freeze spells instead of a healing spell.

actually…. this is the best healing scenario… if u’r not full health and the fall could kill u… than with how it work now u will survive (reciving the heal before the fall dmg is calculated and so surviving the fall dmg due to your now refilled health poll)… if the heal was applied after the fall dmg than the fall will have killed u and so the after healing would have been useless (if ever hppened)…

This is the intention of why it works this way…
If you use RTL off a ledge and take falling damage, it just uses earthquake multiple times, or at least it looks like it does.
It has a cooldown and it is not triggering with every fall. This is a problem. I wouldn’t mind if it was a 10 point trait but it’s a 20 point trait.
I would honestly prefer for it to be a 10 point trait.

If it has a cooldown I didn’t notice it. I jumped down a bunch of ledges in Rata Sum in quick succession and activated like 6 static fields in a row.
If I fell down again within seconds then ring of fire would not trigger. I will test again -I hope you are right.
EDIT: tested -DEFINATELY has a cooldown. I tested both fire and air attunements. They do not trigger within seconds. I’m going to guess the cooldown is anywhere from 5-10 seconds.
I refute what others are saying about this trait being “more powerful” than other fall damage traits. It is merely more flexible. It reduces damage like all the others and it produces one effect that has a cooldown. This really should be a 10 point trait.
