bunker ele isn´t fun
it’s not the fault of the health and armor
it’s the fault of most of ele’s defensive mechanics and traits supporting a defensive build rather than an offensive one
heals and protection work best when you can already take a hit, and don’t help much when you can’t
compare with what the second and third lowest health/armor classes have: stealth, mobility, evade/blocks. These work best with offensive builds, and can support defensive builds as well
in fact, aside from necros, I think ele is the only class whose main defensive mechanics only support defensive builds
It’s even worse now that energy sigil was converted into vigor proc. I really think the tempest adept vigor trait could be converted into giving back 50 energy instead of 10 when entering water, its a small step towards making a glassier build work again.
I don’t know i love playing fresh air still scepter dagger cause its suits my playstyle and the amount of dmg factor
#lovenumbers
just me tho
Duh…Everyone has pointed out problems a million times.
There is absolutely no point posting on the ele forums especially. The devs don’t actually read here, and have no clue how to develop the class, or many of the classes for that matter.
I agree. When I signed up to play elementalist they described us as an adaptive damage dealing class. Now I either go full dps and get 1 shot by anything while doing ok damage, or I become this slow and boring to death healer that does nothing except jump around like a mosquito hoping my allies will do the damage while I heal them. You cant do anything on your own, no 1v1 ability.
Lets not forget that this bunker ele build barely uses anything such as water fields for blasting. All the heals are from pressing a single button. I tell you, powerful aura could be good reworked at this point.

You probably don’t understand how that trait works. You gain 10 endurance every time you apply vigor to yourself. Allies also gain that 10 endurance if you apply the vigor to them. Additionnally, you apply vigor around you 240 radius when swapping to water.
Oh jes buff fire line and drop powerful aura trait ….
This water dependency since eons sucks.
Most broken thing anything about the Ele, in all other games the class that has the lowest HP/Armor is the nuke class, you will expect from such a class to one shot people.
Now lets look to GW2 Ele, if you go to most offensive build that you can think of with 0 defense and even you chain combo 7 skills perfectly you will bring somebody to %20 HP but he still lives and you need another 15s to be able to do the same damage.
So we are not allowed kill people, we are not allowed to survive, so what is the existence purpose of Ele
Maybe we get a new elite spec next time called “Bishop” or something that has great nuking possibilites….

So you’re saying its 10 endurance every time the vigor boon is applied, I see. It would be better if it just gave 50 endurance back every time you entered water imo.

Not really, it would become selfish. No, I am not saying its 10 endurance to you, or your allies everytime vigor is applied. It’s 10 endurance every time you apply vigor. Additionnally, it does the vigor when swapping to water.
I feel with you … I played fire/earth/arcane and now tempest… I hate being forced to spec water. I usualy play my personal spec and use scepter/focus which fits me best, but i do look at the oposing team and change to sage + water (instead fire). Still not the meta cleric but a cleanse bot against the necro army …. I want some decent team support and see my oponents burn :-).
So some buffs in fire and arcane. Eles already have gills ….
Played tempest to legendary and it is extremely boring. It’s incredibly lame having to choose between stability for overloads or cleanse/vigor. This is what happens when they take away celestial amulet and bring on a condi meta.
Am I the only one that enjoys supporting a team? Maybe this is just cause I mained a healer in my WoW days, but whatever it may be I thoroughly enjoy supporting and healing. And a lot of people complain that you cant kill people 1v1… Well to begin with if you are 1v1ing someone you aren’t exactly where you need to be. Ele’s in pvp are for team fights and supporting in those team fights, all of you probably know this. I know getting into 1v1s isn’t avoidable, but if you happen to find yourself into one then your team should see that and rotate to help.
no longer affect the intended travel distance.

It’s perfectly fine that bunker ele exists; the problem that most people have with it though is that it’s been the only viable way to play ele since pre-launch.
The blurb for ele on the GW2 homepage says “Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack.” but in reality the only way to play ele is to jack up its physical toughness, abandon all versatility and never do noticeable damage at all.
People just want to be able to play the class they were sold.
It will stay this way for god knows how long. I have been playing only ele in pvp but recently I switched to necro, you just can’t move up w ele. It’s impossible, well possible but you need an op team which is 1 in 15 games in solo q. Also I need to point out I never played necro before. So after 2-3 unranked matches to get the hang of the build you can imagine my dissapointment.
A first time necro player I was completely and easily soloing 2 people…
It was so sad and made me cringe..
Ele was compared to that a class on a whole diff level because when u fight against op class you learn to play, dodge, stay alive..
Horrible imbalance just horrible..
Also nowadays if I even try to play ele that usualy spells loss for my team. And when I see ele on other side I think easy win unless he’s premade w 2 more..
Hmm you paint it quite black for PvP. I play ele (tempest) and its not this bad. I would teat such a fresh necro with a couple of games appart and i support my team. Its as many already stated. Most eles on´t want to be full healbot bunkers. I play hybrid but when the team is expecting a cleric meta ele and i heal less it might have an impact. I can´t realy tell if my build can compete in legendary. In ruby it´t fine. The lack in coordination and random teams have much more impact and there it can matter much more to actually win that 1:1 in a reasonable time.
Ele has been an important part of teams in PvP for a LONG time. The fact that they pretty much cornered the game on team support means they aren’t going anywhere.
That being said the people who are bored playing support need to realize there are other classes out there to play. You want to blow people up play Revenant, Necro, etc. You can even go Scrapper and kinda do what the old cele ele did.
Just remember as we all complain about our classes and the restricted roles they have in pvp…..Think of the Warriors! Think of the Guardians! Think of the Thieves!
They don’t get to be important like our eles.

Well, this mentality is actually so wrong coming from a MMO. You do understand that you ask a player to give up how they feel about the game? There is an important population of players, which I am part of, that gets attached to a class, and playing the game means playing X class. For me, it’s exclusively staff elementalist. I’ve had Chaith telling me, “You know?…If you wish to go damage, scrapper, necro or revenant is the way to go.” Well, guess where I am now? I am not playing scrapper or necro or revenant still. Actually, I just stopped playing gw2 instead. Guild Wars 2 was supposed to allow build diversity and playstyle diversity: all lies now.
They don’t get to be important like our eles.
Elementalist and Warrrior are probably the most important classes of the game. The two are in uninteresting spot; game dies.
Id have to agree with Alekt, i also stopped playing for a good month because of the changes to Ele playstyle. Our damage build is not competitive enough to play it over say Reaper or Scrapper and healbot gets boring rather quick, not to mention your limited to a set of weapons D/F.
In comparison i started playing Reaper just so i could get the leg backpack. Guess what, its completly stupidly overpowered. Kills anything but a skilled scrapper in 1v1 and still can easily 1v2 some other fights.
Just saying once you see this HUGE power difference its really sad and puts a perspective on where Ele is atm.
Its that place where you can’t really get out of. Reaper brings so much damage to the team and all the healing and support ele does just pales in comparison..
I still play it though, i keep hoping but unless our team can make up for my lack of damage we just lose..
