cleric ele viable in WvW?
Start of a new staff Ele zerg meta?
This might actually also work in 50+ man blobs if you have around 4 or more eles running this build. One reason why most guilds prefer balanced/DPS eles is because the heals they get from blasting water fields is more than enough to heal the whole zerg given that they survive the push to regroup for water blasts. This build would certainly offer more healing when pushing but the zerg’s DPS will have to rely heavily on the melee train and necros.
In short, eles with this build would only offer CCs, healing/boon sharing and AoE zoning while balanced/DPS eles would offer CCs, healing/inferior boon sharing as well as DPS.
I’m not against this build, I actually have a full cleric’s set stocked in my Bank (as I’ve tried this build as well, even tanky boonshare/healer Frontline D/D. I also tried Cleric/Magi D/D ele in PvP when Aquatic Benevolence was first released).
If there are other eles willing to try this in T1, I’d love to join them.
Pros:
• Superior “when-pushing” healing (spam 1 on water when your zerg pushes).
• Boon sharing and uptime.
• Great AoE healing with or without blasting water fields.
Cons:
• HP too low to “tank” retaliation and to survive enemy train/AoE when you miscalculate your positioning.
• Players with bad positioning and reflex probably can’t play this build at all.
• Does not offer decent DPS to the zerg.
yep, not trying to make this the new meta or whatsoever and you definitely need some DPS ele’s aswell, just pointing out that this build is getting more valid nowadays because of all healing boosts and ele not being the main damage dealer anymore during spikes (necro).
It’s just a funny build showing a total different aspect of the ele and satisfies all the wnnabe healers <3
I still think running celesta or a mix healing build is better. I head of some d/d AB builds just getting the +25% being a good build but with the new heal food and the mnk rune set you maybe able to run a stander d/d build keeping the other 6 in water (aura build vs condition removal build) and still heal well.
My take on the build for staff if you where going to run d/d build i would lose the AB for powerful aura.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Yea i think the build i posted is far from optimal (was thinking of adding maybe some zealots+cele in it), just trying to point out some potential of the heals, good to see some positive reactions though <3
Viable probably. Optimal hardly. The direct dmg scales much better than healing power does.
Tried a variety of this build (less healing, more vit) last night in 4 man(MGWE) roaming group in T1 . Whole group was kind of surprised with the result which was a lot better than expected. Probably because enemies wasn’t expecting the burst healing it can give to your allies.
Looks great on paper but here are some things that stand out really well:
• AoE for the burst healing (Healing Ripple, EA Water Dodge) is too small. Need proper communication and positioning.
• At some cases, not enough AoE condition removal because of the lack of Cleansing Water.
Bug(?):
• Geyser is not affected by Outgoing Heals bonuses (Runes of Monk, Sigil of Benevolence, Food: Delicious Rice Ball).
Can someone please check this one. My tooltip says I should heal for 3393. With 25 stacks of Benevolence (12.5%), Delicious Rice Ball (10%), and Runes of Monk (10%), I should be healing my teammates for 32.5% more (1085). When I used it on my teammate, it only healed him for around 1,500 (x3). I can’t test it right now since I’m heading off to work.
Doesn’t work in WvW for the simple reason that zerg healing will not be based off your healing power at all because they won’t heal off your fields, only from the blasts that everyone ELSE is doing. And Blast Healing is based on the healing power of the blaster, not the fielder.
Now, maybe if the Blast Healing was a 50/50 ratio from both of you, probably…
They could make the healing be based on the healing power of the guy casting the field. Like what they did with venon share thief, the conditions from shared venons use the condition dmg from the thief and not from the players receiving the venons..
had a similar idea, saw your thread an geared my ele yesterday. Little different build, more selfish because I put 6 in earth to be condi proof – was trying for the most facetank build possible with sigil of restoration and such. (basically the strongest wet noodle in the game —> waterblast crits for 304 )
goofed around silverwastes … crazy stuff. standing in the thrasher trail does nothing to you.
anyways: it is an extremely strong heal build. that can burst heal a kitten ton. Question remains viable if there is a situation where it is needed and where it is rewarding for yourself.

exact same number for me. Might found a hard cap or a bug.

hmm it worked for me last time i checked, strange :s
oh and claiming that you can only provide healing with blastfields is just a fable :p, excluding the blast finishers you can still put up a very high HPS which can really contribute to the overall surviveability of your zerg.
In order to function correctly you’re gonna have to be in an organized group though balling up when needed for max healing efficiency
