Oh wait, read Martin Firestorm, he says it better…
I’m a d/d ele, and I’ve dueled quite a few other d/d eles in wvw. I run glyph of elementals as my elite, and I usually pop it at some point in these duels. My opponents never use any elite. What gives? Is there some sort of dueling honor code that I’m violating? It seems like such an obvious advantage to create a second foe when you’re dueling. I realize they may be using other elites, but I have not seen any elites used in duels with d/d eles other than by me. What am I missing here?
Some folks forget them because they are in such a usual (bad) rhythem of button mashing. Some take to long to cast (and can be interrupted) as well. Some might have theirs on cooldown. It all just depends.
Takes us out of our rythm bro!
I use mine, but not every fight. I mostly only use it if I need it.
At some point you usually have to put some space between you and opponent to heal up before charging back in. Right after the heal is a great time for GoE.
or maybe they just got greatsword as skill, one that isn’t so great in 1v1

This exactly.
Whenever I 1v1, it’s in a context where I don’t have the time or strategic warrant to swap out the Fiery Greatsword. It’s such a powerful escape that I won’t risk not having it when, at any moment, a zerg could show up and ruin my day.
Yeah, I thought about FGS. But I can’t believe every one of these d/d’s had that. I personally don’t care for it all that much in wvw, though the elemental admittedly is pretty useless with or against the zerg.
So no one ever uses Tornado?

Kinda risky.

There’s nothing quite like having a huge target painted on your character while it awkwardly creeps across the map for 15 seconds.
So no one ever uses Tornado?
A: “think most of the time people prefer have all enemy stacking on 1 place and burn them down with aoe…instead of breaking their line”
B: “you liar! all aoe are scalled to max 5 person! noob!”
A: “true, but what about you stack also in a group who also can nuke”
B: “there only few classes with range attack, and few classes with aoe… kitten ”
A: “that’s why they will thanks our greatsword”
So my conclusion: in A we trust XD
I think tornado needs to be a skill where you cant be damaged. Conditions can still be applied. It is useless in the state its in currently. I use GOE as well and use it when I need the distraction.
Our elites are so bad that I forget I even have one.
Basically true, but GoE is pretty kitten good imo. Decent cd, good versatility due to the 4 attunement types, and just what the doctor ordered when our light armor is being ripped up. Seems like an ele would have a scary ranged aoe nuke option for an elite, but with the 5 aoe cap even that would not be that useful.
